I'll take a look at the hardware store and see if there's some flexible black water line the right size. I might have to fab up some extra brackets to support it. Anybody seen the outer sheath available separately?
I see the environmental Nazi's made you put down absorbant pads, was that for people slobbering over the tank or the girls?
Oh BTW, I get the joke in the thread title...Funny!
I got a new brake cable to replace the old one which was seized. The old one has a outer rubber cover which is quite cracked so it's not usable. I don't see a separate piece in the parts manual, just the cable is listed. Have any of you replaced your cable and been able to install it without...
I will say this about the situation, while I won't call the soldiers in the trucks idiots, they are seriously lacking in the common sense dept. Having said that, 99% of National Guardsmen should not be anywhere near floodwatets. Why you ask? Because NONE of them are trained or equipped to be...
I didn't think they were allowed to fly over the crowds at airshows after the crash in Ramstein. (I think it was that one) There's a video out that's very graphic, shows dozens injured very clearly. There's a lot of people that are gonna be traumatized by this accident. This one will cause a...
I wonder how many of the big tow trucks have pintle hitches? If you had a tow bar that might make it easier for them to tow you providing you don't have something wrong with an axle.
If you look up some of the TM's for those type vehicles, you can find the instructions for how the vehicles should be chained and blocked for transport. With some stripwood and scale chain you could have some really nice looking cars. It wouldn't take long either.
If you have sandblasting capability that may be a good option. Might give better adhesion with a slightly rough surface. Just enough to take away the shine. Norfolk Southern did that with some stainless steel cars that had to be painted to match their steam excursion train when it used to run.
I'm planning on doing my deuce very similar to Catman's, although I plan on putting bedliner in the back and floor of the cab. I'm thinking of redoing all the wood with just a light stain and polyurethane to be different. Slowly getting done piece by piece.
Those most likely WiLL NOT hold up to the vibration they will experience on a MV, especially at the top of a pole. Best to get some thing built by Whelen, Federal Signal or another quality manufacterer. Sometimes you can find ones on Epay.
Changing the subject a bit Randy, did you do anything more than just some sanding before painting, and what did you prime and paint with? Did you use any hardener?
OK to get back on track, my township FD is recreating a float they did in 2002 originally. They were asked to redo the float for the Delaware All Horse Paraded tomorrow. The float is a recreation of the famous photo of the the firefighters raising a flag over the rubble of the trade towers...
To make your cover look neater, you could do what we did with our old parts and tool truck in the maintenance section of my Guard unit. We had the top of the bows covered with a sheet of thin fiberglass like what they use on the inside of semi trailers. Of course this is if you plan to leave...
What's to stop YOU from making that call? It's your idea. It would probably be a full time job. Ever heard of the Super Sofa Store fire in Charleston? That's a fairly big city. Google it.
HappyLand states his dept. runs off of 4K per year. But then states that they have gotten grants for certain things and donations. They may only recieve 4K per year locally, but they certainly operate on more funding than that. You CAN'T run a dept. effectively on 4K a year. It's time the...
