Ok, here's a pic of what I ended up with using 24087. The color I was after is on the air intank pipe connected to the turbo (sorry not sure what the proper name is). I figured the paint would have dried to the correct color...boy was I wrong.
24087 from Rapco is OD green. However once I started spraying I noticed the paint had a more pronounced khaki tint to it compared to what the engine was painted. The original engine color is the same as the LS-454 speaker I listed above
Hello gentlemen, I am wanting to do some touch up on the engine. I ordered what I thought was the correct paint from RAPCO but it's too Khaki (24087). Any ideas? The LS-454 is exactly what I am looking for as far as color. The engine pick really doesn't show the color too well with all the dust...
Today I was finally able to get the hardtop installed on the truck. Kind of challenging doing it yourself. Kind of awkward holding the hardtop as you try and maneuver up the steps without falling. I made sure the joints weren't going to leak as I sandwiched silicone caulking on both sides of the...
Getting on base and driving on base is where you need registration and proof of insurance. However, driving out the gate doesn't require anything except just driving out. Really no big deal. Don't get any ideas of doing a joyride around base. Just get your truck and drive safely to the nearest...
I would also like to make a suggestion. Do you want a really flat black close to CARC black? If so, goto Home Depot and buy BLACKBOARD PAINT in the rattle cans. It is the flattest black I have found thus far. Don't buy the paint in jars, just rattle cans. It is much flatter than Krylon
wow $9500? A guy could buy 4-5 GL deuces on the west coast or 8-10 on the east coast and put a nice truck together and have 3-9 deuces for parts trucks:shock: Definately would have enough tires for the lifetime of the truck
in regards to the flat black. The flattest black I have found is Chalkboard black paint in the rattle cans from Home Depot. It looks exactly like CARC Black. Stay away from Gillespie black as it is too glossy.
Gillespies 34079--Camo Forest Green matches my MERDC Green. Now my truck was painted MERDC in 1988. However I've noticed a ton of earlier trucks have that blue/green color on their MERDC...sun fade? Paint breakdown?
Forest Green is the correct color for the 4 color MERDC! You do NOT want the 383 Green as it is used with the 3 color NATO Camo pattern you seen on today's MV's.
Here's a pic of my '88 M35A2C w/MERDC. As you can see, the 383 CARC green on the cover is completely different from the forest green...
Hi Ed, the plan is to run the multifuel heater/generator off the aux tank. I'm going to run a T off the fuel tank and run the lines. Great idea on the inverters. I plan on putting at least 3 marine batteries in the van to run various accessories like ham radios. I'm thinking about adding a 12v...
