Well, I got tired of looking at the truck just sitting in front of the house, so, I have this lube spray from Slick 50. Gave the alt a few squirts in front and in back of the front bearing and at the area of the rear bearing, let it sit, then fired it up. WOO HOO! no more squeal! Charging good...
Having never had an assist on mine, can't say which is better, but, I don't have an issue with the way it is in stock form. Sure, it can be a bit tough to turn in a tight spot, but never got into a place I couldn't get out of. Look at it this way, you'll add 2" to your chest if you drive it...
FT, I agree. A used engine, you have no clue what it's like. You could spend alot of time swapping, then find you have an engine in equal or worse condition than the one you took out. At least, if you drop the pan on you engine and have a look up the belly, you can see if you have a rebuild...
Don't loosen all the mains at one time, leave the #4 up. If all of them are loosened at once, you'll be doing a rear main seal too. Also, if a bearing has lost the overlay and not spun, run your fingernail across the journal. If you nail catches on anything, polishing is in order. If the bearing...
RE: Re: Found that whine in the engine compartment
Mike, there's a manual here in the TM section and the Leece Neville/Prestolite website has p/n's. Readyman, is it easy to get the rear gearing out? What did you yse to do it?
All that changed was the additive package, the sulfer content and the additive that creates the suspension of the combustion process so it won't go out the tailpipe and into the DPF. That's what the Valvoline people told us when the oil was introduced.
I have a 4 element, 750 Luberfiner fuel scrubber at work. Would that clean a mixture like joey has? I totally forgot about it. Guess it would filter the FedEx gas real good too!
Aw, I wanted to see a K in an M series truck. Driving it would be like steering a doug fir 2x4 thru a slalom course. But it WOULD be a rocket  in a straight line! Kinda like the Kawasaki 750 tripple! You guys are mean
Wonder what DR and Wallew are up to?
The ATF stuff is very old school. It worked on the old stuff, should work fine on the multi. The MF pumps are tough! Mine sat 10+ years with gov't diesel, fired right up and ran fine for 50 miles before getting a fresh shot of LSD. Still runs strong using diesel/gas.
4500 is about the going price for a good runner. I'm 6'1" and fit fine. See if you can find one that is already registered. It might be easier for you.
RE: Linda
Sweet, Another So Cal member! Linda, make sure you or someone else checks the brakes and fluid. Use only BFS...brake fluid, silicone...NOT the stuff you get at Pep-Boys or Wal-Mart. It is NOT the same.
