Like I stated in a different post, a cubie (4.6 gallons), now cost $20.00 and some cents for restaurants, that's $4.35/gallon. I paid $13.76 last year, which is $2.99/gallon.
There is a difference between oils, restaurant fryer oil is usually soy bean, Canola (rape seed) is supposed to have...
Got one unit running.
Indicator light in the image is the flame detector light, used to show that it's on.
It really puts out some heat, smokes during startup, then no smoke.....
Limited budget, John. Haven't done much except work on the 8x8 since returning from California and I have made progress on it without spending a lot. The number of posts on this forum is in inverse proportion to the amount of money available to spend. :-)
Thanks for asking.
Looks good.
If you separate the axle vents from the air brake vents, you could easily pressurize the axle vent system at some future time when you are looking for something new to do.
:-)
The image below shows another methode to make a manifold, block of aluminum or steel, drilled and tapped...
Worked on three units today, they all have gummed up or clogged fuel valves. The electrical works well.
I'm trying to clean one, if not successful, I'll have to look for a new valve.....
Mine was N/A when I got it. It smoked, more so if only used for low rpm/low load situations, less after taken on a good hard run.
If the adjustments are still sealed on the IP, there is no reason to suspect that settings are off.
Keep the radiator covered even at higher ambients.
Of, course...
You are welcome Eric. Keep us posted on any progress, I hope to fire mine up later today.
You will also need the interconnecting cable with mating connectors. I will have some extras, so let me know your needs when time comes.
Eric, the control box wiring appear to be the same for the different heaters. The box shown above has extra controls for mechanical shutters to control the air flow from an external blower, which was part of the M109 system.
The diagram is posted below. Note that the box is not grounded or...
Eric, the pump is called out in the parts manual and shown here.
The heater is the one used in the xm757 and the NSN is 2540-00-113-4180 (model 10530A24).
The blower, pump and igniter all should come on when in start mode.
The pump has a built-in filter but there is also one more in the line...
Setting up to test and gain confidence in the fuel burning heater.
So far I have the blower and pump under control, still need to plumb up the pump to a fuel source.
I like the fact that it can be used as an independent system and produce heat without the engine running....
Patrick, what's the procedure for changing them, will you need to drain them first?
Don't forget to add a filter wrench that is large enough, to your tool kit.
When the sound of the truck is unique to it, I wouldn't change it.
My 8x8 came from factory with a very loud electric horn, an air horn was added later. I'm keeping the electric as my horn button horn and adding a separate switch for the air horn, which is a deuce horn.....
