I think it should be optional for the poster. The images I post may be used by anyone as far as I'm concerned or I wouldn't post them.
Also, when I scan a PS mag article or a TM, that don't have copyright issues, why should we be distracted by the watermark?
As usual, just me bitching again...
Got this Calix heater from Kenny a couple of years ago, finally found a home for it.
It's 1000 Watts and coolant flows by convection as it's heated. The bottom hose is connected to a drain on the block and the top hose goes to a port by the temp sensor.
It's actually a 2000W/220VAC unit, but I...
Should be fun. The engine now has all fuel lines and filters plumbed in.
Visible in the pictures above is the heated fuel filter and the bypass oil filter (from Devilman).
Finished most of the plumbing today with a checkvalve installed to help matters.
The pump is a fuel transfer pump designed to dispense fuel from a drum. In this application it also worked and by measuring the level drop in the oil pan, about ten strokes put 3 to 4 qts into the canisters and oil...
RE: Re: RE: 5 ton fever?
A couple of the m656 cargo/amphibious ones have been on ebay recently (didn't sell) and I can give you a lead on another xm757 if you are serious.
Most are in Europe unfortunately.
:-)
When you decide to take the plunge, consider saving another of the light weight 5-tonners, the m656/xm757 trucks. Hate to think of the remaining few going to the scrapper because of the aluminum hulls...
Thanks Jeff!
I may have some pictures of the hook-up. Had to format the puter, so it'll be a day or so untill everything is back up and running, including the scanner.
I stenciled "5" on my plain 105. Don't have a picture handy at the moment, but mark it on the curb side.
It's been posted before, a search, perhaps? Maybe it was before the first server change...
For the combined, 11 or 12.
Jeff, interesting use of the 5-th wheel, perhaps you should move those images to a separate thread, I think the M1089 deserves some discussion with the detailed images provided....
As stated, the light switch is air activated. The switch must be able to release air pressure via its "exhaust port", if clogged, pressure will remain. Could be a matter of simply cleaning the switch assy.
RE: fifth wheel wrecker
Great images of the m1089 Matt.
Interesting to see so many commercial adoptations, we should make a list. :-)
Textured steering wheel finish, S$S (?) on the horn button, styled instruments, even the color coding of the glad hands...
Where is the BO driving light?
I like...
I got a "kit" from ACE a few weeks ago, the old style and must say that it isn't very "military" with the brass parts suspended by a spring and relying on clean contacts to operate correctly.
I gave all parts a good cleaning and checked for good contact as I moved along in the assembly.
It works...
Good summation Lee.
You may want to add the cold weather considerations, when the drain back original canisters allow you to heat the oil in the oil pan for quicker time-to-pressure.
A pre-lube system retains all the advantages.
Poured the first batch of fuel into the tank this morning. I'm testing the fuel system and the pump has been running for 45 minutes as I'm typing this. Only a couple of minor leaks (compression fittings) and the filters bled nicely.
8 gallons of diesel and 3/4 qt of canola oil.
One image shows...
Thanks for sharing your experiences!
I'm all for a dual heated tank system though, solves all the problems of running on bio/vo in the cold.
Image of my heated tank on the 8x8, ready for testing as we speak.
RE: No Guru but
As time passes I am more interested in being able to run on biodiesel/veggie oil than doing it only because it may be a way to cut cost of operating the vehicle.
Just having the option gives me a sense of satisfaction. Thinking about getting fresh oil now.....bypassing the...
Thanks.
Don't want to take the thing apart, just wondered if this would be a good time to drip a lubricant down the cable since it's all downhill to the engine needed or not. :-)
