    Alternator woes...

I wouldn't assume that he knew it was a 28V alternator. I would give him a call and ask the question.

Great deal on deuce on trade

Both vehicles look very nice. If both are happy with the deal, then obviously you both did OK. The fact that the seller drove the Deuce that far to deliver it without problems takes much of the worry out of the mechanical condition.

    Clutch adjustment woes

I recently swapped out my transmission and replaced the clutch and pressure plate. 3-1/4 inches is about where mine is at.

    Uses for your M35A2

I used my Deuce to haul several thousand potted plants for the local garden club a few weeks ago. Generated a lot of good will, and was even more brightly colored than your umbrellas. The women in the garden club fought over getting to ride in the Deuce!

    Alternator woes...

Just because your meter has started reading in the yellow doesn't necessarily mean that you have an alternator problem. If the battery has been taxed, the meter will indicate a higher reading, until the battery has been recharged completely. Likewise, if you increase the load on the batteries...

Anyone have a trailer hauled out of Florida?

Be very careful using the pictures from GL to determine condition. It's amazing how many times a photo of an auction item makes the item look to be in excellent shape, when in fact it is not. Also, sometimes people will bid up an item beyond what the value should be. Unless you are looking...

    Care and feeding of mep003

If you live in an urban area, off-road diesel is relatively hard to find. If you live in an agricultural area, it is quite common. I have at least 10 sources of off-road within 30 minutes of where I live.

    MEP-003A - Lost Output

I agree about the poor design of the bows. I'm thinking about adding some thin plywood to place on top of the bows to prevent this in the future. One thing interesting about my cover is that the quality control was apparently very poor. Some of my straps were sewn on backwards. There have...

    MEP-003A - Lost Output

I'm embarrassed to admist that since first discovering the problem with over-voltage on my MEP-003A, I have not taken the time to properly troubleshoot the problem, which was suspected to be a bad VR. well, today was the day. It was beautiful outside and I'm almost finished wiring up my...

    Free gas for my deuce?!

Every time I've seen anyone checked for using non-taxed fuel, they have looked for red dye, indicating off-road diesel. I suspect if the person being stopped doesn't volunteer that they are running WMO, or something else, they won't have problems if the fuel doesn't show red dye.

    Axle plug won't budge

When taking the plug out of aluminum, I have used a heat gun to warm the housing, which does no harm. The coefficient of thermal expansion for aluminum is high, much higher than for steel, so the hole will expand. While the housing is warm, place a small amount of dry ice in the plug. This...

    Tow Bar/M105 Recovery

If you have comprehensive insurance on the tow vehicle, it might cover the cost of the tire replacement. Might be worth checking out.

Fun's Over in Bama, State Requires EPA/DOT Certificates of Conforminty

I would recommend the following. 1. Demand to see a copy of the legislation where this is now required. Alabama has been notoriously free of harrassing rules compared to some states. 2. If indeed this is true, contact your state Senator and Representative by telephone and ask for...

ring mount cab plate... how many need one?

NOS cab plates are averaging about $250.00 each right now from what I've seen. The price has really jumped. I guess the NOS supply is dwindling.

Deuce is smoking, but it wasnt before...

A Deuce that isn't putting out smoke isn't running.

    Saturated Brake Shoes

I have been sanding brake shoes as above for many years after cleaning and have gotten very good results. I have never done this on a Deuce, but I would expect similar results. If you have asbestos lining, don't breath the dust!

Deuce is smoking, but it wasnt before...

As mentioned above, running a multi, or any diesel for that matter, at low speed and excessive idling will cause wet-stacking. The engine is running too cold due to low loading. The cure is to run it faster for several miles, or under increased loading, so that it is running hotter...

    Starter Switch questions...

Quite commonly there are NOS push button switches on ebay and the usual MV parts houses have them.

    M35A2 Advice

Your photos show what appears to be a very nice looking truck. The front hubs are for self-recovery. The only worry I would have is the sprague. They work well if the truck is driven properly, but can be a problem. I would convert to air shift if possible, but the sprague is original.

    Details on ringmount plate rivets.

I like a picture of the installed plate, distance between rivets, etc. if you have time. Thanks.
