If I make a lengthy post or a complicated post, I always copy the text before submission. Occasionally, I have issues with the post going through and I have to login to SS again and often my text has disappeared. When this happens, it is very nice to hit Ctrl V and be right back where I left off.

You should go ahead and replace the belt. Once it starts slipping, it is most likely ruined, and it sounds like yours did a lot of slipping.

My deuce runs at at 180 - 190 100% of the time once warmed up, regardless of speed, duration of trip or load. I've never had it run over 190. I did have a problem a few weeks ago when I lost the ground, but this was an easy fix.

I would definitely suggest replacing the complete cover assembly. You shouldn't have much difficulty in locating another cover.

Why not contact Mercedes and find out the name of the paint manufacturer, type of paint and RAL number? If the original paint was so good, I would bring it back to the original.
