Mark, I have just been through this. My oil pressure was low because of low viscosity and after a lab analysis of the oil, it turned out to be a problem with fuel mixed in with it. The viscosity had dropped to about 5.7 centistokes (at 100°C) from a normal of about twice that.

It's important that a slow blow fuse is used, it can handle at least twice the rated current for several seconds considering the inrush current when the motor is first started.
You know Patrick, it's just my opinion, I don't know, but why take a chance when it's just as easy to run it into the pan directly and may even promote the flow thru the bypass filter.
The output of the bypass filter must go to the oil pan without flow restriction. A hole may need to be punched in the pan above oil level and a suitable fitting installed (drilling is only an option if the pan is off the engine).
I would feed the bypass filter from the port labeled "Oil sampling...
Patrick, the TM calls for a 2 amp fuse, but I'm pretty sure I have seen a PS bit about using a 4 amp one. 2 amps may be marginal for an electric motor.

Of course, check that #79 grounding wire, the only ground for the pump and level indicator...
Andy, it doesn't matter where you sample the oil, what you see in the analysis is the result from (hundreds) of hours of engine operation, but I wouldn't take it from the oil pan drain, where part of the oil may not be in circulation.
That would be my fuel viscosity indicator. The shaft of the potentiometer is coupled to the FDC piston (stop block)
and a gauge on the dash indicates its postion, which is an actual reading of the fuel viscosity. The FDC should really be called a Fuel Viscosity Compensator.

It's D-man's kit, he sent the hoses later and I thought it would be a better show for him to use what's part of his kit. For a permanent install, I'd probably go with crimped on fittings, though, I still have them.
Bypassed the FDC today, used plugs instead of loops of tubing shown in other diagrams.
Also installed D-man's hoses and clamps instaed of my hydraulic specials.
Drained the filter and reinstalled it for a test with fresh 30W oil.

The filter is new, so I was planning to drain it and re install it, or is that a really bad practice? Guess it would be. Mike wants to send me a new filter, bless him, so I guess I can wait a couple of days.

Next step got messy. The oil trapped above the canister in the mount and the hoses runs down my hands and the fender. At this point the upside down canisters are up one to nothing...
After the "scary" oil analysis posted in a different thread, I'm now in the process of changing oil and bypassing the FDC.
The filter spanner I had was too small, so I improvised using the old capstan technique. Worked great.

My personal choice has been and is Texaco Ursa Super Plus 30W. The LDS465-2 got it and the LDT465-1 will soon have the fuel diluted oil replaced by it. Of course Ursa means Bjorn in Latin, so I'm biased. :-)
