I'm sure that there is tons more out there on this subject, I want to emphesize that the beauty of the bypass filter is that it does not change any of the original design goals for the engine.
Even if completely clogged there is no difference in normal filtration or oil flow.
Re: RE: Re: RE: Fuel system ferrules
Yes they are.
I have also been playing around with "standard" hardware store ferrules and they seem to work okay, maybe we are overthinking it a bit.
In bypassing the FDC, the loops shown in the diagram can be replaced with pipe plugs, one 1/4 NPT one for...
Re: RE: Fuel system ferrules
Yeah, I'll be needing a few for the FDC bypass operation. I'd like to keep things as much to mil-spec as possible. 3/8" and 1/4 inch.
Also for the return lines on the LDS465-2, they are all brittle and need to be replaced.
It would take some doing to reuse the...
Aberdeen weather:

Looks like some rain coming....at least it'll be warm (check the 10-day forecast).
What is the definition of a dry start?
If an engine is started after being off for a few minutes, is it still a "dry start"? Apparently UPS has no problem with shutting down and restarting their engines 40 or more times/day.
The bearings remain lubed after a shut down, the question is for how...
The filters have been used for decades in stationary and marine type applications. My filter is made by Racor and comes in "open" or "recirculation" configs.
I have had mine installed for about 3 years (some 17,000 miles), did it to simplify fording preps along with the permanent...
Maybe there is a connection between the thrown rod and low oil pressure caused by fuel in the oil, which in turn is caused by a leaking FDC and the Army's decision to bypass the FDC...
I now have a low oil pressure problem, fuel in the oil and a knock at the rear of the engine. It's time to...
Thanks Patrick, I'll be bypassing the FDC and with fresh 30W oil and a new filter (just the one for now, while testing D-man's set-up),
I should have oil pressure back to normal and the "knocking" problem will have to be dealt with later. Well, you heard it during your visit, not terribly bad...
The coolant is Ethylene Glycol and distilled water 50-50 plus DCA's (about two pints).
The fuel for that part of the trip was mainly diesel, since I had used up most of the veggie oil and bio diesel on the way out.
Back in September, I changed oil at Leonaro's place (Baby Hemmet), drove the truck to Oklahoma, where it got a workout doing a lot of lifts at the place where the XM757 was picked up and towed home.
A total of about 3,500 miles, low oil pressure was a big concern and the "knocking" mentioned in...
Got insurance and registration for the deuce this morning.
Cash outlay: $71.00 total. :-)
Also received a engine oil report today, which is not so good, see separate post/thread.
