What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I honestly never looked, despite all the drama about it. The truck never failed to start so I figured it must be there, or it wasn't really necessary.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Ever since I've owned the M1109, so 14 years or so, about three or four times a year: Turn the key, hear the bendix fire, then bog down like it cannot turn the engine. Release the spring tension on the key back to RUN, then reengage and it starts normally. It happened too infrequently to worry...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Drove over to the DRMO lot and spotted the first M1151 I've seen in there, and the monster thing.

First shakedown and I have a question about the fan clutch

What you describe about your fan cycling is no different than mine. As the gauge needle approaches 12-o-clock the fan kicks on, and runs for about the same time as it takes to regain control after the adrenaline dump it caused. Mine (soft top and doors) leaks during the rain, but nothing in...

WA Antenna Mounts, Guards, Risers for CUCV and HMMWV

Risers gone but I may have more.

WA Antenna Mounts, Guards, Risers for CUCV and HMMWV

I've always had working antennas on my trucks, so I've collected some mounts and accessories over the years that need to find someplace else to live. These are getting hard to find, so no point in them sitting in my shed. I have two complete CUCV side antenna mounts and brush guards - $100...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

When the M1009 was menacing the mean streets of Kitsap County, it was the loudest and brightest thing out there. The Whelen with two 100 watt air-horn outputs was distressingly loud, and the two 450 watt aircraft landing lights turned night into day, even turned off the streetlights. With...

    Aux Tank Location MEP802

Well the tank is in place and I ran the generator off the 1 gallon or so in it. It'll leak-check all night to make sure all the fittings are sealed up well. It only took about two dozen trips to home depot to round up all the small parts.

    Softer suspension on M998 (? )

I'd love to soften the ride on my M1165, but trying to read multiple threads with conflicting information is frustrating. Do the Armada springs work on an M1165? What year armada springs, or better yet, what part number Do I need to cut them if I don't want to lift the truck? My truck sits high...

    LED replacement no flashing

This bulb in the turn signal fixed the problem for me. It costs much less than $300.

    LED replacement no flashing

Yeesh, have you tried using the specific bulb that was linked, the one that solved the same problem for me?

    It's alive!!!

My opinion is that 5# isn't going to matter too much. The sidewalls might get a bit warmer but then there's more sidewall in a LR E anyway. Your milage will suffer... rofl If you expect to go above 70MPH, maybe top them up beforehand. The springs and shocks combined with the lack of armor...

Am I missing it? I see numbers for kits and assemblies, but not for the bulb itself.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

If you have a moment, could you post up the part number and/or NSN for each of them if it's still visible?

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

There is nothing blocked, the lights stand off the grille face by a few inches, so air can flow through there just fine. We often speculate why the automotive engineers that designed these used the hydraulically powered cooling fan, vs the far simpler and less prone to damage viscous clutch...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

It's a diesel, not a turbine. The air flows just fine.

Trying to decide if I like the aux lights here.

    Aux Tank Location MEP802

I have two locations for the aux tank (semi truck diesel tank) and should probably get to it since the rest of the necessary fittings, valve, and filter are inbound. Location 1 is roughly level with the onboard tank - shouldn't be much trouble for the generator to pull fuel. PRO: easy fill-ups...
