Yikes!
I once owned a Triumph TR4A that would run ok, then die. Restart and run ok, then die. While it was dead I checked the two necessities: fuel and ignition, and both were present. So why didn't it run? I'd forgotten the other necessity - AIR! Turns out the exhaust manifold had a leak...
When it dies again:
put the ignition switch in run
pop the hood
remove the pink wire off the IP
touch it back and listen for the solenoid inside - do this several times
if it sounds weak or you hear nothing, it might the solenoid went bad - easy fix
Today was glow plug day. EDIT to add: 6.5 Turbo
I started on the right side aft plug. I used the medium pry bar to bend the heat shield out of the way some. That one took a while. Open end wrench 1/16th of a rotation each time.
I did the next forward one and it took about as long, again...
I just ran into this last weekend when I was going through my hubs. I removed the one bolt holding the inboard end of the radius rod and popped it down with a mallet. Seems like a lot less work than pulling the half-shaft.
Maybe I don't understand the problem right?
Looks like the previous...
I only drove a HMMWV once while I was active duty, not unusual since I was aircrew. The one time I did drive one, I got a ticket for driving too fast, not having the license, and not checking the tires before entering a taxiway.
Me and another guy were doing some side work as OPFOR and he...
In the meantime, throw a pair of vice-grips under the seat. If you're out and about and the truck fails to shut off at all, pinch the feed line to the IP.
Also, "inside the IP" isn't as daunting as it sounds because the shutoff solenoid has it's own little compartment. Mine has security torx...
I have a slightly different problem - I need to mount the 450 watt aircraft landing lights from my M1009 on the M1165. I just can't think of a good spot for them.
Having a NOS kit means I have all the parts, and I had no idea there were as many small parts. Most of the ones I see for sale used are missing most or all the small parts. The "instructions" are a little vague, so I decided to write a quick tutorial.
PARTS:
Base
Offset part and cover
Side...
Had to troubleshoot the motorcycle mostly but once that was done I installed the springs for the soft-door handles. I was wondering why the two doors popped open the last time I drove it around, then noticed there were no springs.
As a retired Flight Engineer, I appreciate the aircraft seat track.
I still have four 8-foot strips in the garage.
EDIT to add: I also have a handful of tie-down fittings for the track, which made me notice the way you're using it isn't going to work, not as seat-track anyway.
