What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I've spent almost the entire sunny summer building a shed in the backyard (note to self: a PLAN makes the process easier and faster) so today I decided to play hooky from chores and take the wife out to the mountains. I had two guns that needed shooting and/or sighting-in, so we drove up to...

Purchasing M1009, Have a Few Questions

Why 33s? Do you think you need them or are you going for a 'look'? The 31x10½ tires are stock for the M1009, and you'll have few problems (if any) keeping it stock. Not a criticism just asking. I'm been driving mine daily for five years and have done only PM and minor maintenance. Like the...

    Need some M1008 antenna pics

Antenna? CB? Ham HF, VHF, VHF/UHF, VHF/UHF/220, VHF/UHF/220/other? AM/FM? Commercial VHF/UHF? GMRS? MURS? Business bands? :shrugs: There are a couple people on this forum that are antenna SMEs.

What did you do to your trailer today.

Wow, that brings back memories. I did many an early morning pre-flight by the light of those things. Don't sleep inside!

What did you do to your trailer today.

It was pretty hot here on Tuesday so I decided to drive my Jeep WK instead of my M1009 to work to have AC when I got off. Problem is the jeep was still connected to the M1101 trailer. The rent-a-cop at the base gate says, "Wow, cool trailer!" I told him thanks, and that they're free - they...

    M1008 Bobbed?

Back in the 80s the Air Force flightlines were crawling with Ford F-350 bobtail trucks. They were used to pull maintenance stands, lox carts, and other AGE around. I always wanted to get my hands on one and take the heavy back end off to put a tiny pickup bed on. They were replaced in the 90s...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I came out to go to work this morning and discovered an 8" crack in the windshield. Too hot out yesterday (90°)? Not sure. It wasn't there the day before yesterday when I moved it. Well, it might be good to get it replaced; the wipers didn't work so well with the pitted surface.

What did you do to your trailer today.

You cannot stop at the home center with this trailer and not get compliments. When I mention how much I paid for the $8000 trailer, $750 minus the $400 I got for the humvee wheels, minus the $300 I saved by picking up a yard of gravel (vs delivery) and they're left scratching their heads. :p...

    Missing rear window crank

I turned that wing with a screwdriver to roll the window up and down for a few months after I got mine. I picked up a new handle on LMC and painted it black. Some of the black has chipped off so I need to touch it up.

I want to do that with mine but... I use mine as a daily driver (when it's not 90° outside).

    M1101 M1102 Surge Brake Removal ?

Is the trailer more or less level when you're towing it?

    M1101 M1102 Surge Brake Removal ?

I'll echo what Tinstar said; fix it instead of disabling it. A yard of gravel delivered = $350 A yard of gravel picked up = $50 Savings = $300 Stopping fast if you need to with 4200# behind you = Priceless You never know what you'll need to carry, which is sort of the point of a utility...

how level does a m101a2 trailer need to be - realistically

My previous riser for my previous M1101 trailer bent when the lunette ring got bound up during a turn. In hindsight I think the pintle was too small, and the riser not up to the task. This time around I went heavy duty on both. The heavier pintle seems bigger to me. The first two pics shows...

how level does a m101a2 trailer need to be - realistically

I'm not an expert on the level thing, but to answer something you said you can get a taller riser for that pintle. A taller riser should also move it farther back; mine did. I have no problem getting the rear hatch on my WK open. I prefer it open when I'm backing up to the trailer because I...

Beware Home Depots Forklift Drivers !

I needed 60 bags of concrete for an 8X10 pad to put the new shed on top of, so I pulled my M1101 trailer down to HD to pick it up. The guy was actually going to load them one at a time until I suggested he just get the forklift guy to put the pallet of concrete he was pulling from on the...

    nchittendons m105 camper kick off

Looks like the boys had a great time; they'll always remember those outings. Question though, why the trailer? It seems like there would be more room in the back of the truck, and easier to maneuver.

Why can't I get FM radio?

If it were me, and I wanted FM radio, I would get an antenna bracket, riser, and mount a full length FM radio whip on that. That way you'd get great reception and it would look military-ish at least. This is my ham radio antenna- mil didn't have much near the 2 meter or 70 cm bands, and...

Why can't I get FM radio?

What does that mean? The antenna sticks on the glass and you're running the wire in through the window, or it's a thru-the-glass type? Post a link and/or picture. If you want the right kind of help you can't be vague.
