I'm wanting to have a single place to get all the information for everything involved with changing the 12/24 volt alternator with a readily available 24 volt alternator and 24 to 12 volt equalizer.
I'm Primarily speaking about an A1 truck.
First the Title of this thread. While doing days of...
how's the clearance with the new alternator between it and the cab?
Any pictures with the new alternator mounted?
I'm seriously considering the 24 volt alternator swap but I also have to figure out how to remount my AC compressor. I made these modifications in April 2016. Way before any one had...
That’s a tough question, you can buy a S&S trailer for 1-2 grand. So my guess if you wanted to get rid of it maybe $500 if you wanted to get rich and wait a long time maybe someone would be willing to pay$2,000.
My 1997 donor M1079 was definitely used with 10k miles paperwork showing sowing it was in Kuwait. It even saw action, It has a bullet wound or a grazing from a Ak47 round.

I stole my 1997 M1079 for $10,500 on gov planet just as the Covid really got crazy. But I removed the box and installed it on my 2003 M1078A1. Then sold the 1997 truck for $8,500!
Why does everyone put the 24v to 12v converter near the dash instead of in the battery box where you would have plenty of space if you removed 2 batteries?
That sucks, I knew the door handles are china knock offs didn’t know they are making CTIS valve knock offs too. I ordered drive shaft u-joints from them, their online picture shows a meritor u-joint with meritor markings but what I received was a white box with no branding and the u-joints had...
Seems I’ve read that there is a hole on the transmission housing and the flywheel starter ring acts as a tone ring and you put a sensor there. That was a really long time ago. So I may be completely wrong.
I often wonder if I should put new shocks on but honestly after all my travels I’ve never said in the moment “oh I need shocks” and when I do focus on it it rides quite well at almost 28,000 lbs. But always in the back of my head wondering. Mines a 2003 LMTV.
Thanks for all the information...
