    The FFS thread…

Exhaust manifold on my 6v53 decided to reduce backpressure while in use. Technically it still works but I get a little dizzy when driving. Probably just need more coffee. rofl

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Revived this rare M930A2 dump. Formerly a TFS (Texas Forestry Service) truck and was last used in 2018. Typical no start, doesn't move, etc which were all remedied and is a fine specimen now. It's neat how they used 12" iron as bed extensions. It looks good!

Dealing with issues due to half-assed CTIS engineering.

This sums it all up with MME. If you're looking for OEM spec rebuilt ones then @CallMeColt is your guy. I supply him with take offs and he goes through them. Heck, he rebuilds other FMTV components for me too with excellent results.

    Hurricane Helena LMTV Flooded

Ronmar is correct below in how to rotate it by hand. Turning the engine by hand without lubricant won't hurt it. If the steps in the TM result in the belt slipping you can remove the alternator and use the teeth on the flywheel to get rotation but that's obviously more intensive to to get to...

    Hurricane Helena LMTV Flooded

Lets take it step by step to the major decision making points for determining if the vehicle is worth the re-investment. I broke it down into 4 sections to help you put minimal time and money into the machine. Disconnect batteries Drain all fluids and I mean ALL fluids. Open turbo intake and...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Recovered and finished going through this 07' reset M931 tractor. What a gem! 45 hours, 1125 miles. Everything is nice and tight. Just needed PMCS and to replace the typical rotten soft lines plus new batteries. I may replace the steering wheel because I feel it deserves it. If I had a spot in...

    1400 up to 1600s on a M936A2?

Ditto. 16.00s will fit but they will squat with a load on the crane and cause mobility (and stability) issues. Best step down to 395s and roll on.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Revived this M930A2. A rare truck for sure and worth the effort. Auction listing states: Doesn't start - false, dead batteries. Doesn't run - false, bad fuel line. Transmission doesn't engage - false, see above. No keys - true! Bonus: all the red wasps you can catch!

CUCV2/CUCV-II Owners, post pics and info of your truck

Not to highjack threads but did the exhaust smell like diesel when cranking?

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

What are they asking for it? I'm picking up 3 this week but I want the cleanest one for my build (if price is reasonable).

CUCV2/CUCV-II Owners, post pics and info of your truck

I appreciate that. I wish there was more support for these units. I've got a crank no start situation and no shop will touch it.

    MTVR engine ECM

2019A works for the FMTV and should for the MTVR. As long as the program is more up to date than the flash file (rule of thumb) you're in good shape. Odds are the specific flash files for our trucks haven't received updates in many years.
