    Definitely need to have a cover on the voltage regulator if it doesn't have one. Does that have a foot pedal starter or a relay to engage the starter? A dash 10 manual would be helpful. You can download on on this site. Hope you get it going.

    You could pull the starter, open the solenoid and clean the contact disk. I think Tactical Repair has a video on this. Disconnect batteries before removing the starter!

    Get a headlight shell/reflector that uses H4 bulbs of the 24 volt variety. They are out there on Amazon and other places. You just make a headlight plug to Packard adapter. They are pretty vibration resistant and MUCH cheaper.

    m37 wiring

    The replacement harness is a chunk of change. Not having a 50+ year old wiring harness will make ownership of your M37 much less pain. I think it is great to have someone reproduce those wiring harnesses.

    M37 Engine Swap with M151 Engine

    All in all, the original 230 engine is not bad. It would be a lot less effort and expense to repair what you have. Engine swaps, while attractive in concept end up being money pits. M37s are not the best choice for a daily driver. I've done it but fuel was cheaper 40 years ago.

    The way parts quality is today, I would run what you have. That lip doesn't concern me as long as no heat checking or cracks.
