From looking at the pics the body was proportioned for a F 350 Ford which has a lower cab and a longer frame. PO must have got it in a junk yard and farmer engineered it to fit. I would think the hinge would be near the rear spring hanger for the rear axle and the rear cross member would be not...
Number here is at least $500.00 depending on what is wrong with it. Check with vendors in your area. Cummins has its own depot/shop in Newark, NJ on Doremus AV and there are several independent diesel fuel system sops in northern NJ. IN AZ they had to send it to CA for the cure.
The rearward facing PTO on the transfer case is for trucks like the M49C, M50, and the pipeline construction truck that have a pump or winch mounted behind the cab. A front winch uses a PTO attached (in a deuce) to the left side of the transmission. Both use a shaft or shafts to operate the...
If this truck has the NH250 with the PT fuel pump in it you can turn the bypass screw in (clockwise) and it will hold the fuel solenoid open so if you can get the truck cranking it will start and run. To shut it off you need to either use the emergency shutoff or turn the screw out. It will be...
My 818 showed up with at least a class 2 leak between the PT fuel pump and the air compressor. Leak at input shaft on front of pump. Leaked most when at idle, less when driving or shut off. Engine also getting hard to start if not run recently. Sent pump out to be resealed. Instructions for...
I see the reason the frame broke is the body is too long for the frame so when it was dumped and the center of gravity moved to the rear it overloaded the frame and it broke. Or the rear axle is too far forward leaving the hinge at the rear of the body poorly supported by the now leveraged rear...
I've winch enough dead 90 series trucks up on trailers by now to know they are impossible to steer when the engine is not running. What one would do if you pumped all the fluid out of it with a broken hose is beyond my experience. I have a M818WOW here which is a reasonably solid citizen and you...
Post 10 has the straight skinny. Read the reading first. You cannot imagine how much Army equipment has been destroyed by untrained personnel with unauthorized tools and parts and guidance from someone who "thinks" this the way to go because he read it on the wall in the latrine.
This is what I had. Pic attached. Electric windshield wipers were apparently a late issue MWO. The switches were mounted on the mullion that separated the two halves of the windshield. Not too many set up that way.
Reference post 2: back in the day we used to pour OE10 over the cable while it was wound up on the drum. A pint would usually do. I am now told the Army has a new purposed liquid to preserve winch cables. Grease was frowned upon as the cable touched the ground it would attract more dirt and...
I bought a M35 from GL about 8 years ago that was listed as a 1953 Studebaker. However it had a turbocharged engine, air shift transfer case, new style seat and a instrument panel with a tachometer. No tags on it but its appearance and equipment suggested it had been the object of a depot level...
Reference post n11: if someone checks the operator's manual I recall there are detailed instructions in there as to the recommended stowage for all the OVM.
Remember with an air system the first several feet on he discharge side of the pump must be metal or metallic so it does not melt from the hot air being discharged from the pump. A plastic line up to the pump will fail.
Sometimes if you remove the grease fitting and throw a little heat at the hole it will melt the dried up grease in the bushing that is restricting the entrance of new grease. You didn't say what kind of vehicle this is (M37 or 38 ?) but I hope there are no plastic parts involved and the bushing...
Make that the throttle control is the furthest lever from the camera next to the winch. Other levers select winch or crane and which way the winch would run. "Trolley" handle is an air control to operate the vehicle clutch from the back of the truck.
At least the M816 had a throttle under the boom near the power divider to set the RPM using an auxiliary devise on the fuel pump to control the rpm. Using the dashboard throttle was an issue as the NHC250 Cummins would gradually ramp itself up to full throttle regardless of where the dashboard...
The snatch block and a utility chain are your friends. Don't leave home without them. I used to carry 2 when I had a truck with a winch. You might have to change the direction of the pull and develop mechanical advantage at the same time. 809 series trucks with winch were authorized a chain...
