Today was a productive day, carburetor is on, throttle cable and brackets on, fuel pump on wired and plumbed, vacume lines ran, cap and rotor button plugs and wires is on. New valve covers are on with nice new gaskets, thermostat is on, torque converter bolted to flywheel, starter on and wired...
Engine is in the hole and bolted to the transmission, the motor mounts ended up lining up perfectly and bolts went in. Have the intake bolted on and the distributor back on. Tomorrow I will do the cap and rotor button, plugs and wires, valve covers, carb, and as much as possible. Hopefully have...
Yup.
Metal fabrication and machining is what we do so the welding will hold lol. Not using no harbor freight welder.
I didn't think about a different cross member but that's a project for a different day I got to get this truck running.
I've seen vids of that breaker before and it's awesome. I don't have the option of putting the brackets from the coach in this frame because they are a completely different set up. I even bought brand new mounts for a 6.2 to work with this 454 and they are different then the stock diesel mounts...
So the motor will slid back far enough to reach the transmission correctly.
The exhaust manifolds hit the frame, and that is will stock cast iron manifolds
Air cleaner and valve covers and more parts for the big block.
Having to notch the frame for the engine to fit. Lots of stuff has gotten in the way of this project but will hopefully have it in the hole tomorrow.
Decided to go electric fuel pump for more clearance on the block.
It's definitely always best to use a press on that kind of stuff.
I use a arbor press for small bearings, bushings and pins and a hydraulic for the big stuff.
I can't stand it when some uses a hammer to put a bearing in something then complains when that bearing is burnt up in no time. Driving...
I don't know if this is an option you want to explore but if the tire does not stick out from the wheel well then a piece of pipe across the opening and against tire will keep it in until you get it home. Is it a good option? Not really but it can basically work, from the times I've seen it done...
Today I finished pulling the 6.2 out. I then dropped the tank to clean that up. I also started cleaning up the engine bay. Got a lot of the mud and crud off the frame and fenders. Should have the 454 in the hole on Monday or Tuesday.
Haha.
She's definitely a crazy redneck chick. We are usually in my truck playing in the puddles and back roads or in Polaris rzr hitting the trails. She's definitely not a city girl and that's why I like her. She has been asking when will I get this engine in so we can go romp it in the mud haha.
It will work out fine if I can get it done lol.
I get a day to work on it and instead go see my girlfriend who is begging me to come visit. So next day I work on the truck and get a bunch done. Go to start working on it today and had to go do some stuff for my grandpa and ended up visiting with...
That was my original plan but the more I look at those manifolds the less I like them and also got to really looking at them and the welds are cracked on just about every tube. I think in the long run I will be happier with the new iron manifolds.
Far as emissions testing there isn't anything...
Today I started the task of Making my cucv a gas burner.
I am taking the 6.2 Diesel out and putting a 454 gasser in. I keep having a lot of problems from the 6.2 and just don't have time right now to deal with them. So in a gasser goes, eventually the 6.2 will get a full rebuild with all new...
