Your engine bay is spotless!
Motivates me to do some cleaning to mine before freeze up.
Today I finished the axle swap between the 76 K5 and my 86 M1009.
It was immensely helpful to have a way to lift the body to allow clearance to reach the axle u-bolts with an impact wrench.
Learned a...
So new pinion bearing preload is set to 18 inch pounds in an empty case.
That is with only the pinion, pinion bearings, crush sleeve and seal installed.
So you are saying that you remove both axles shafts, and the differential carrier to retorque your pinion each time?
You realize the ring and...
Yes, and thus the "blip" of the impact.
Yes, you should always use an inch pound torque wrench but that spec involves removing the axle shafts and carrier.
Are you going to do that?
It is completely unnecessary and really; there is no "magic" going on here.
What the engineers are saying is to...
The odd element to all this is that, correct me if I am wrong; you are saying the "knocking" is gradually going away on it's own.
That is the opposite of what would happen if the lift pump was going bad.
How many stops and start cycles are we talking about here?
Personally I would take that...
So here I was, a day off with 2 Blazers, a 267 Caterpillar Skid steer, and some tree stumps..
Oh yea, and all the parts necessary to swap the 12 bolt rear and Dana 44 front with 3.73 gears and lockers from my 1976 K5 into My 1986 M1009.
I know I started a thread about building the 10 bolt axles...
Wait a second here.. Does the owner know of the cold advance on these diesel engines.
Mine is loud too until it comes off the cold advance solenoid.
That is normal for indirect injection engines with a cold advance system.
What happens after the idle kicks down and it warms up?
If it runs fine...
Check that your Blackout switch is set to 'Service'.
Then check that you actually have 12 volts to the junction block on the drivers side firewall above the glow plug solenoid.
This was my issue.
Everything checked out but had random flashers, stopped flashing with brake depressed etc.
Replaced BOTH the flasher relay and hazard relay.
Problem went away.
I see what had happened.
There is a steel soldier map AND a steel soldier member map on zee maps website.
I think the link on Steel Soldiers goes to the map that is locked somehow.
The one on the zeemaps site labelled Steel Soldier Member Map has the "ADD" option.
THANKS HILL!
I posted a pin on...
It gets weirder..
The galaxy s5 shows that box with the lines on member maps that nothing else up here shows.
Let me see if i can add from this gadget.
I gave up on this phone because the camera is damaged.
No joy for me with that map.
Tried using laptop and there is nothing there except a box to select terrain view.
I tried on this laptop as well as the office comp using windows 10.
Okay Hill.
It works on my Galaxy S5 active but not with my Rugby Pro.
But I had to login to the Full Site at bottom of page.
Have you tried loggong into the Full Site on your phone?
I use bluetooth to transfer pictures from my phone to my laptop.
Then from my laptop I select the little icon that looks like a picture of a tree.
But it does not appear when viewing this site from my phone.. get it?
You need to be on a computer to see the icons to add pictures.
At least you do...
Hill, I am in the same boat as you.
Can't find the X in the upper right corner to add myself to the member map on any computer.
Also cannot post from my Android phone.. though it is an older phone running an older version of Android.
I can only post photos from my laptop or another desktop computer
Where the cast iron adapter meets the aluminum transfer case; yes, a gasket is appropriate and comes in the transfer case rebuild kit even though the other parts of the np208 t case only call for silicone sealer.
Probably has to do with dis-similar metals meeting up.
I am sure you could buy just...
I've got a plug in block heater but where we park our rigs in winter; end of the plowed road, is 3 miles from the nearest outlet.
Thought about running a generator but that seems ridiculous since it requires a 40 minute snow cat ride just to reach the truck.
Ended up deciding to just use the...
I literally finished a t case rebuild and reinstall yesterday.
Although mine is a turbi 400 trans with the np 208 t case.
I had a leak where yours is and even orange silicone from a previous repair attempt hanging out.
That is what prompted me to tear the t case out in the first place.
Anyhow...
