    m1009 u-joints

Yes, they are equal. The Spicer 5-795 ujoint is a gm 3R and it fits the stock driveshaft and pinion yoke. The only other inside clip style yokes are Dodge 7260 or 7290. Definitely call your driveshaft man for second opinion.

    m1009 u-joints

Spicer 5-795x Your yoke could be worn. I worked at driveline service San Jose for 2 years. We saw all kind of worn out pinion yokes. It happens. The ujoint should fit tight in the yoke even before the straps/u-bolts are tightened. If it does not fit snug and there is any play side to side...

    High water brake issues

I don't know if this helps but give it a look; Here at the lodge we get people in all the time with same symptoms as you are describing. Almost invariably the high pitched squeal when the vehicle is moving can be traced to a piece of gravel stuck between the backer plate of and rotor on the...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Ahh. I thought about it; I have the engine oil cooler lines and transmission oil cooler lines disconnected since the radiator is removed. Maybe I'll wait. I'll post again after it is all back together and have a report on how it changed (if at all) the idle quality and or noise. I don't think...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Pulled my radiator today to have it boiled out and a pinhole leak repaired. Also ready to install a Fluidampr Harmonic Balancer since the radiator is out of the way. My 1976 K5 helps by holding the tools and parts from the 1986 M1009. I'll have my co-worker take the radiator down to Miller Fab...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Hey Thanks. I'll have to look into that and see if it will fit a Blazer.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

From what I can find, nobody makes a front receiver mount for a k5 blazer. But folks have taken a rear receiver hitch from different application an cut it down to work. Want to have a receiver mount winch. Front is to recover others. Rear for self recover. Learned that lesson with my 84 k5. A...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

The counter people at 4 wheel parts I went to did not know what a k5 was when I ordered parts. They cater to Newer Jeeps. Rancho no longer sells a winch bumper solution for Blazers either. Nobody makes a front receiver mount either. The younger generation confuse Blazers with Broncos. I am...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Probably just clearing out residual air. Takes a long time to get it all out after getting that much air in the system. Keep an eye on it though. Maybe that return line hose needs a second clamp or isn't sealing up. Sounds like you are on the right track though. Congrats!

You might check the fluid in the reservoir first before you start the truck. See if it is free of bubbles. Then run the truck with the cap off the res but don't turn the steering wheel yet. Just observe if the fluid fills up with foam. Hope that is all it is and it is easy to find and fix.

    M1009 frame question

I had a 1984 K5 that had frame cracks under the steering box. Symptoms that the truck had; Wandering on the highway, Understeer. A feeling in the seat that the front end was not attached properly when offroad on twisty sections. Put the Rough Country weld in kit in that frame and it cured the...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Had this happen on a Dodge once after replacing ps pump. Had a tiny leak at the o-ring seal where pumo met reservoir. Is your fluid foamy? My guess is a leak at the return line. It can suck air without a leak being evident. If your fluid stays foamy you got a leak somewhere.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Added a water temperature gauge to my M1009. Took the threaded plug out of the water pump (passenger side) and installed the bulb there. Almost no water comes out if you leave the radiator cap in place so i did it with everything full. Of course I had to run the gauge tubing first through the...

    NP208 no high range

When I rebuilt the NP208 on my 1984 civilian K5 it was pretty basic. The T-case is very light and I recommend you pull it out and do a complete rebuild. So long as you are sure it IS NOT A LINKAGE ISSUE first; Your shift fork inserts (plastic) are most likely worn away. But that alone probably...

New owner of a 1986 CUCV but my third K5 Blazer

1986 cucv m1009 I bought this truck off the internet and flew out to get it the same day. On the drive home only two things happened of consequence; The vaccum line to the modulator on the TH400 transmission fell off in Butte Mt causing high shifting. Put it back on on side of road. One of the...

New owner of a 1986 CUCV but my third K5 Blazer

Hello. I am a newby on Steel Soldiers. Long story short.. I just bought a 1986 CUCV M1009. This is my third Blazer. Honestly, I just get a vehicle and fix it up until it has no chance of breaking down, get bored with them, sell them, and find another basket case. I still own the second which is...
