    Cooling upgrade system.

The only claims he makes in the actual literature for the kit are; improved coolant flow to the rear cylinders. Well, in this case their is precedent for the idea of equal water distribution from the water pump across all the cylinders. Look no further than the inline 6 motors of the 30's and...

Well, the writing on the bulb does say "Made in China". Maybe they were dropped.

House Voltage... Does it really matter?

http://wattenburg.us/energyresearch.html I used to listen to Dr. Bill Wattenburg back when he was on KGO. One night he took to task Pacific Gas and Electric for their use of higher than necessary line voltages. It caused quite a controversy. Basically, in the article above, it states that...

Off road Diesel in a 2011 MEP 803

I am the Class a fuel system operator for my Lodge. We have fuel delivered twice a year. Gasoline for ATV's and snowmobiles and Diesel for our Skid steer and Logan Snowcat. Our Diesel is Dyed diesel. I have the delivery ticket for 2,000 gallons of the stuff right here in front of me. It is...

    Oil loss / use.

Actually known people to do things just as crazy to make it home; Pair of astronomer buddies hit a rock on a fire road on top of Chew's Ridge in the Los Padres National Forest. Put a hole in the gas tank. Duct tape wouldn't stick. Tried hammering a piece of wood into the hole, no dice. Chewing...

    Head light problem

Why not see if they work normally on 12 volts first? That way you aren't destroying perfectly good 12 volt bulbs if they are in fact, 12 and not 24 volts. If they light up dimly on 12, then you try them on 24volts.

Found the M1009 I want! NO TITLE. Shipping to AR. Not sure how to begin.

There are two perfectly good M1009's with Titles right here, On Steel Soldiers, in the classified section. I have bought vehicles without titles in California. I even bought one titled to a dead guy.. in California. Something about the M1009 without a title because "the guy never got around to...

    Oil loss / use.

You said you're burning a pint of oil per 3 miles. Driving from New York to Virginia pulling a 5 ton trailer. Thats about 500 miles. Divided by 3 equals 166 pints of oil burnt. 2 pints to a quart thats 83 quarts. 4 quarts a gallon thats 20.8 gallons of engine oil burnt to make Virginia. Well, at...

So you've been driving around with a restricted air cleaner; gauge in the red, and you are surprised to have problems? I don't understand.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I got a set of 4 diamond pattern chains; they criss cross diagonally, and the tensioners and stuff. Used them once last winter on my 76 K5 to pull a 2,000 lb trailer with probably 1,000 lbs of groceries and beer up the mountain to the snow cat. It was kinda a pain because I made it to with a few...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Yeppers, it's a catch 22 for sure. Like they say around here in winter; "You got chains on all 4 wheels and you still got stuck.. probably shouldn't be there." I hear ya. Fully locked, brand new 33 KM2's.. no chains but.. stuck! Always bring a shovel.

    Oil loss / use.

I have been reading on the web. White smoke is the major symptom of a turbo leaking oil into the exhaust side. If it is leaking oil into the exhaust impeller cavity then the idle would not change nor would the engine go run-away. You would just be burning it up in the exhaust and emitting white...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I love my day off. Nothing I would rather do than wrench on my truck (s). This was a perfect day; 1/2 wrenching 1/2 wheeling and chillin like a fat rat. Now I am dreaming of a detroit and fresh 3.08 ring and pinion and Yukon allow axle shafts and... Gonna rebuild the transfer case on next day...

    Oil loss / use.

#1 You are burning it in your cylinders due to bad or worn rings. You should see this as a lot of blowby out the crank case breather or blue smoke even when not on the throttle. #2 leaking oil past intake valve stems due to loose tolerance or bad valve stem seals or both. That is a lot of oil...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Front 10 bolt axle service; replace, seals, spindle bearings, and repack bearings. Replace front axle shaft u-joints Added a Spartan locker to the front 10 bolt as well while in there. Transmission service; replace filter and fluid. I was suspicious of the front axle because when I replaced the...

Member Dao is talking about listing his m1009 tonight. Maybe you would want that one instead since it has a title. Check it out.

    Puking power steering pump?

Is the fluid foamy? Had this happen to a vehicle once. It kept over flowing out the power steering pump reservoir cap. Made a whining noise too. Turned out to be a leak at the reservoir o-ring seal to the pump. Didn't leak fluid out but sucked air into the system. Could you have an air leak into...

    glow plug temperature switch

This. Recently due to the introduction of the Paradox cucv coolant upgrade kit, at least one member confirmed that above is exactly what happens if that thermister (located in the back of the driverside head block off plate on the m1009) is removed or otherwise disconnected. Your gp card will...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

If the key is off and you pull the final ground wire (the one to the frame, body, etc, set your multi meter to 50 volts. You should read 0 or very nearly that when you touch the battery wire disconnected from it's termial and the other lead to ground. The other test is called a voltage drop...
