A few major things to watch out for when rebuilding the alternators:

There is rumor of a TM but none have ever surfaced. There are manuals for the LSSV.
There is a CUCV-II owners manual supplement that is out there. Not much in it.
You can open the alternator before ordering parts but the windings and stator usually are fine.

Only time you have to change the water pump is if you are going from a v-belt to a serpentine belt setup. The brackets will fit both engines.
The sensors and the fuel shutoff will need to be changed due to the 24v humvee setup.
You need to make sure the two pin exciter plug at GEN1 is reading correctly. The red wire should read 12v all the time. The brown wire should read 12v with the key in the run position.
Also are your GEN lights working when you start the truck?
There are many NA GEP 6.5L out there. I bought two from surplus. Both where bad. One thru a rod and the other had zero pressure on a cylinder. Both where from GL.

Some members have report success in just replacing the seal on the throttle shaft. No need to remove the IP. I have never done it myself so no words on knowledge.
