I have used a product called friction grip drops. It's a paste that you put on the bolt and it increases the friction, this way your 6 point socket has more leverage.
Worked like a charm for me. I also used some penetrating fluid.
Thank you for the link.
I was talking about the busing that the bolt to the block goes through. You know, this round pin the back ear of the alternator with the bushing i was talking about, the alternator mount, the front alternator ear with bushing and the bolt.
(passenger side alternator)
After having my alternator rebuilt, should it sqeak like that?

I have the feeling he just replaced the bearing i could see.
Also asked for a new bushing in the bolt ears. He said i can get them from lowes.
where can i get a new bushing from?
As much as i hate having to take the power steering pump off. I am going to do just that. I have to replace the water pump, so I will remedy this situation, i will also rebuild the alternator then. Mission creep, as they say.
Did as suggested and pushed carefully out on the axle and the snap ring went right in. One problem down 99 more to go.
Don't work on your truck when dehydrated!!!
I am sure the leak is from the fitting not being tight. I think it is a 5/8 nut but the question is how to get there. I have crow feet wrenches in my GMTK, but it's near impossible to get a wrench there.
Yes, thinking of it what you say makes sense. I was in the heat and a bit dehydrated. I'll do some prying tomorrow.
PS which TM has the procedure? I looked in the -20 and it doesn't talk in much detail of how the job is supposed to be performed
What a total and utter pain, I couldn't get the small surclip on the axle. Ill drive her a few miles and see if i can then tighten the inner and outer lock nuts some more. There is a smidge missing dor the surclip to go in its grove. The larger surclip went in without problem
Good morning everyone.
is there a two piece seal for the front axle of the dually? I am going to replace the wheel bearing and was wondering if the bearings are special? Autozone got a few to pick from. Anything i should look out for?
