Best of Luck on your Sale.
To bad your not closer.
Just finally got my M1028A2 repainted and putting it back together after talking about it for years, but had to finish the M37 first.

Sounds like the trans. is in two gears at one time, due to the shift rails out of alignment.
Some one probably forced the shifter into two gears. Not hard to do if it has a worn shifter.
Need to pull the top cover off for a look.
Better get a TM before you start. It can be tricky if your not...
It's actually a "Dark Bronze" GM Code 76,WASEN7465,W5A7465 I can't remember the short RPO code but have it somewhere.
Most people think it's Maroon, or Burgundy, but it's closer to a dark brown.
You won't find it at your local auto parts unless you give them the code and have it mixed.
So spray...
Looks good.
What winch is behind the bumper?
He install it, or Gov? There were a few floating around with Gov. installed winches but not many. Pretty sure it was a Unit thing

Check your rear springs and bushings
The more they wear or something loose the more noticeable the pull becomes.
Also both rear tires must match in size and air pressure.

Haven't done any studies but I can tell you I have run the larger filter on all my Chevy V8 Gas and Diesels for over 30 years,
Never an issue. In fact as stated this was used on all medium, heavy duty trucks with the V8 small or large block.
Some people overthink things.

After ten years of driving and working on it I started hard on it first of Sept and finally got it all one color.
Not Perfect or 100% correct but a decent "motor pool" job and the way I wanted it.
Need to install cab top and a few other odd's n end's.
Thanks

There is a left & right frame brace just ahead of the front rear shackle and a front pinion snuber that the 84 don't have I don't think.
At least the civi K30's didn't have them in 84.
Maybe it's a military thing?
Tom
They are actually well thought out. Once you understand how it all works and do a couple of mod's. learned by others expense, it's dependable.
And you can't beat the twin 100 amp. alt's.

The pin in the top side of the shifter tower is broke or well worn.
Also the groove on the side of the shift lever at the ball is well worn.
Install new pinbolt and weld the groove and reshape or find new. There out there from the usual suspects.

Check what was mentioned to be safe, but the TH 400 in the these trucks and the civilian K series were known to shift hard between forward and reverse.
It has to do with the way the accumulator in the valve body is set up.
GM did address that issue later on,after 87 or so.

Nice truck and plow.
Something to think about,
Plowing that fast is going to cost you someday.
The biggest mistake people make is running around plowing at speed then hit a hidden object (curb, bump, manhole etc)and tear up there frame, plow or worse.
It's just not worth it. Also be sure you stop...
