Zero deg this morning. 1028A2 Doghead and GP resistor bypass only Mod's.
Been sitting outside for a week,Cycle GP twice started right up.
It's all about the PM work you stay on top of!

Nice Job.
You should depress the accelerator pedal 1/4 and hold while starting, and release it when it starts. It helps set's the cold fast idle, and excites the Alt.

The hose will be replaced. it's not as close as it looks in the picture.
I have since wire tied it up and back farther for now.
I'm well aware of the manifold heat after being around these old Dodge's for some time.
The nos hold down and cables came from John at http://www.midwestmilitary.net/...
Thanks!
Yes it is in great shape compared to most.
I've had the truck for eight years and now that I'm retired I am finally getting around to fixing things.
Just trying for now to keep it dependable.
It's been registered a robi's site for years.

After 8 years of very little progress other than driving it on occasion, finally got around to changing out the Cracked Exhaust Manifold, with the help of dougdodgeman!
Still need to change out the rubber fuel hose for the correct filter bowl and line.
Also,Truck had just the battery box and mixed...
I have fixed a few by drilling small hole, installing a sheet metal screw with some sort of thimble on it to protect the cable.
Worked for me.
Other than that replace the housing.
Tom
Your point are all Valid.
There no ECM or other emission sensors other than cold timing advance and higher idle.
You could run a lower thermostat but if you go to cold you risk cold cylinders and the problems that can cause, Carbon, sludge, raw fuel dilution, Etc.
180 Deg. T-stat is as cold as I...
Nice Install.
However I believe the water pump is not the ideal place for the sender/bulb. Your reading cooled water. For a more accurate reading it should be placed in the head, water manifold, or somewhere in the intake coolant passage,Engine side of the Thermostat for true engine temperature.

Well Duh,
Sorry for my incorrect reply on the bolt size.
After seeing Dog heads illustrations I realized your talking lifting shackle bolts and I'm
Thinking Spring shackle bolts.
Sorry!
Perfect example of fat finger clicking before brain engages!!
Tom
If your talking about the long bolts that go through the shackle bushings in the frame and spring eye there
7/16x 5" sae.
If your referring to the cast iron bushing mounted to the frame
They were riveted.
A guess, they would be 3/8 or 7/16 x 1 1/4"
Check the rivet hole diameter.
Tom
Any Diesel can run a way as mentioned.
Very seldom it will happen from it's own fuel source.
It happens when a Diesel idles for extremely long periods of time and slobbers in it's own oil to the point were it gets into the air intake system.
Then the engine ignites this oil and has a new...
If your having trouble turning the engine over you need to check/replace the starter.
These trucks crank over great, when everything is in good condition.
Mine easily cranks/starts at -7 the coldest I have tried.
