I have fixed a few with the bolt also.
It is best to find some sort of sleeve over the bolt threads to save the small cable.
The screw threads will break it fairly quickly.
Small piece of plastic pipe works great.

Real Nice!
Charles does his rebuilds the way there supposed to be done.
These old Dodges are very rugged and reliable.
I bet it's right at home on the farm!
Well done!

Downshifting is controlled by a electric switch mounted on the accelerator pedal bracket under the dash.
Controls a solenoid in the transmission on the valve body.
Make sure the single wire plug on the left side of the Trans, case above and behind the selector linkage is connected.
Can be pulled...
There's no belt in the heater.
Sounds like the motor needs to be replaced.
You can drill a small hole in the rear bearing(bushing) and oil and remove the fan wheel and also oil.
Will help but the motor is probably on it's way out.
To go through the work of removing I would just replace it.
Tom
Have you checked the pivot bushing on the frame rail bracket? it could be missing or wore out.
I would check that and the rest of the linkage from the transmission up.

No the black wire in the plug is ground.
If it is still orginal with the four wire push on plug,
Then DO THE DOGHEAD RELAY MODIFICATION!
Save yourself some headaches and heartaches.

FYI
17" Split "ring" wheels were an option on middle 60's Dodge "W" series (3/4,1 ton)
And Chev.3/4 and one tons, but were 8 lug.
I thought Dodge were 6 lug could have been 5 though.
Also there is a huge difference between 'split ring" and "split rim".
Some folks don't know that.

Just something to ponder.
The swap is not that bad providing you get all the accessories and mounts from a donor truck.
If it a 12 valve engine there easier because of less electronics.
You will also need an OD type Trans. and a change the diff. ratio's for sure.
There is a lot more to it than...
Those are the GP resistors behind the plate.
A little smoke after first try with new GP is not uncommon especially if none or few of the original GP worked.
What happens is grease/oil film builds up on the resistor pack, and when you load them for the first time, the heat burns off the crud.
You...
I talked to Bob last week and he informed me a Fellow from TX bought the truck.
The truck is awesome up close too.
His skills and eye for detail are amazing.
It's been to the IA rally several years now.

Yes those are orginals, and very hard to find.
You can contact Charles at M series Rebuild.
He rebuilds a lot of trucks and offers up buckets of Good used bolts for sale at a decent price.
I know he just got rid of some on the Dodge site.
Check and see if he has more.

Thanks for sharing.
I have the original hard copies and decal/plate in all my trucks and this gives me a PC copy.
There tough as nails units.
I also see were ownership has changed again.
