IMHO it won't work without pressure to force the oil through the filters. Especially the 1 micron!
Well, with thinning you might get a gallon a day at first.
Got the NAPA hose badgmc56 suggested. Two of them at about $11 each did the trick, with a little help.
On the driver's side, I put a 3" sheet metal elbow on the defroster connection to make up for that hose being a little short.
I disconnected the tach & speedo cables & pulled the cluster out to...
Okay, I got a chance to pull the Deuce inside & work on it. Sure enough, 60# gauge & 120# sending unit.
I'm guessing that could explain the low readings I've been getting? Is that what others have found?
Warmed up, I get about 10 at idle & 25 at 2000 RPM. My other Deuce will show 25 at idle & 45...
One of my trucks is showing low oil pressure. Don't know why.
I know some of you have changed to a mechanical oil pressure gauge.
Is there a mechanical gauge that fits the panel alright?
What will I need to connect to the engine?
I'm not at home, so I can't look at the truck, but I'd like to...
TM,
I just installed a heater under the dash in one of my Deuces. (Well actually, I still have to get & install the defroster hose & hook up the electric.) It's not an easy job, but not that bad either. The toughest part was removing the pipe plugs. I highly recommend you have an 8-point socket...
Fastruck,
I've had the same problem with the hand throttle on my M813. If I try to bring the speed up a little, it will slowly climb way up to wide open. PITA.
SCSG-G4,
Are the rings typically that loose, or would that only happen in a really worn engine?
Remember guys, the Deuce cold start systems are NOTHING like the Cummins system.
The Cummins in the M813A1 uses a manual pump & a glow plug instead of an electric pump & a spark ignitor.
My M813A1 has a block heater. On the rare occasion that I know a day ahead that I'll need it, I plug it in. Starts right up, down to 20 degrees. If colder, I use a shot of ether in the air cleaner.
With no advance warning, I just use a little ether. Very little required.
I don't know whether...
Both of my Deuces start just fine in cold weather. No need for manifold heater or anything.
My M813 will NOT start without a shot of ether whenever it's below 45 degrees. Cranks fast but won't start. I don't know whether the glow plug is working. Ether is quick.
My Case diesel farm tractor...
I think a winch easily adds $1,000 or more to the truck's value.
And once you've used it, and gone to all the trouble of trying to get the cable wound back on nice & neat, you'll drive more carefully!
