Glad you made it home safe with no issues.
The trip to bring my Deuce home is right about 1700 miles that I will be making the 2nd week of May from IN to AZ. I think I'll bring some flexall with me as well for the rest each day. Definitely not going to push the truck when traveling through...
Sorry, I should have been clearer in my initial question. Let me rephrase the question. Can you tell me how big the tool box on the deuce is? I already looked up the dimensions of the jack, but don't know the dimensions of the tool box interior.
What size tires do you have on yours? Mine has 395s on it. 8-hour days at 47mph would take 4.5 days to make the trip home. I was hoping to do it in 3-days doing 55-mph with 10-hr days. If I need to cut to 47mph, I can do that, but will have to drive 12-hr days to make the trip in time. If I...
I actually have one of these that I think would serve better in this regard. Teach his own though.

I'm really hoping I can avoid a breakdown. Mmy wife is going with me and I'm pretty sure she would freak out if we broke down (we had a bad experience with U-Haul moving from Omaha NE to Colorado Springs CO back in 1997 on a Sunday evening).
My mechanical skills? "The engine won't start."...
New belts before I even head back home would take care of having to have the 24" prybar & crescent wrench, wouldn't it. I wouldn't think these engines would eat new belts. I have 2 big adjustable wrenches that open to over 1" so figured that would be easier (and lighter in luggage) than taking...
I have air lines & chucks at home, just bulky to try to take in my luggage. I'll look for the Schumacher at the first Walmart I see on the way back. Water is for humans or truck consumption? Was planning to pick up a little cooler to keep drinks in for the trip back. Food is not a problem, I...
Good idea, thanks! Looking at the photos, I'm guessing the truck has been sleeping for a while, but the seller said they will flush the fuel system & make sure everything is working for when I pick it up. Of course, Murphy could be waiting under the first overpass on the way home, but that is...
Sounds great! I'm trying to schedule time off from work (only one person per team allowed off at a time) and flight schedules out there. Would love to caravan back.

Is this the part that if you do it wrong, the engine goes runaway and then explodes?
Newbie mechanic sitting in the fetal position, rocking back & forth, as images of black smoke and screaming engines cycle through his head.
I'm going to be picking up my very first Deuce in less than 2-months and am trying to plan for the retrieval trip. I will be flying to the truck so I can't carry a lot of things I have considered after reading posts on this site (no CO2 extingisher to stick in the truck's intake should the...
