I am very fortunate that the previous owner had done both the Doghead starter relay modifications and installed a full panel of headlight relays.
Made it around fr122.
Very different between 400 ci gas and 379 ci diesel.
Also transfer case low range.
Weird to just idle over stuff with the...
So true, what you said.
My old boss at Champion plumbing would say; "Do it right and you can't be wrong."
I stuck to my guns on that radiator.
First one had a leak under the factory paint.
May have cost me credibility with Miller fab but I know that damage was not caused by me.
They got me a...
Bless the Lord.
I finally got a radiator that holds water.
Two weeks later.
Testing out my rebuilt injection pump by Oregon Fuel Injection.
Less smoke.
More power.
Smooth idle.
Had a fuel leak right away but turned out to be the lift pump I replaced, tightened the supply line and fixed.
I live...
Nah.
An opportunity.
I see a crossover tube with the bypass and two threaded holes; one of which holds my glow plug thermister and the other the bulb of my temperature gauge.
Currently my aftermarket temp gauge is reading the water inside the water pump housing which has just freshly returned...
Check out the cucv cooling upgrade thread here on Steel Soldiers.
Also; 6.2 cheap, plentiful, no computer.
I wouldn't call Duramax "bulletproof" either.
My old boss went through 3 sets of injectors on his Duramax.
The 6.7 Cummins at the lodge is great until the egr filter plugs, turbo speed...
Still have the crossover gaskets that came with my intake kit from doing my injection pump.
By the way, I found this replacement airfilter on the shelf at Carquest in Lovell Wy.
I like the protective outer cover.
Here is the part number for the filter on the left.
Supposedly my radiator will...
This is probably not what you should do but I'll pass it along anyways.
It was quite common to find wheel hubs in my Old Willys jeeps and those of fellow jeepers, that had a spinning race.
What I and many others would do is remove the race and peen the bore of the hub with a small punch all the...
I would be interested in a kit.
That is the primary reason I am doing the durability work (Fluidampr, injector pump, new 4 core radiator, Joeblow911 cooling upgrade etc.) to my 6.2 first.
At some point next spring after the snow comes off and it isn't minus 20 up here I am going to pull the...
Hey Drock, how is your glow plug system working now with the sensor back in the system?
I know you said your glow times were excessively long when it was unplugged.
It seems like it could go anywhere really since as soon as the motor is turned off the whole thing probably equalizes in...
I can measure that this evening.
I've got a sbc in one blazer and the 6.2 in the other.
I bought the HMWWV crossover on ebay for 50 bucks shipping included.
The other advantage of a thermostat spacer with two ports would be you could put the thermister in one and the bulb of an auxiliary...
I ordered your prototype cooling kit from ebay yesterday.
When I get it I will extend the electrical lines to the thermister just like Rustyshacklford and Drock.
No need to send wires to me (slapco1).
I am going to solder the appropriate length extensions and use the stock sensor connector.
I nabbed one on ebay for $50.60 including shipping.
You getting that thermister back in your system sold me on the idea.
Thanks Drock!
P.S.
Just bought the second to last 911JoeBlow CUCV cooling kit off ebay.
Someone better jump on the last one!
That HMWWV crossover has a threaded boss.
My M1009 crossover just has a blank flat there.
But I bet I could get Miller Fabrication to drill and thread me a hole in my crossover in that spot.
Well, one of these cooling upgrade kits is in my future.
I just took a look at my crossover and there is no hole where yours is located.
I can envision using the heater hose connection on the crossover along with fittings to make a 'T' connection in which to thread the thermister.
Of course the leads would need to be lengthend.
Probably best to solder...
That would be better than disconnecting it if you are still using a glow plug card.
It just needs to be in the cooling system somewhere.
The variable would be whether that location cools off faster etc but I would think once the engine is off for a while the whole system reaches a similar...
well if it not a rental and you can work on it there, a flat cement driveway and a transmission jack will make things a lot easier.
You could pull the transmission and transfer case as a unit but you'll need to get that truck up in the air.
That's a bummer a $10 seal requires so much work to...
