I have a winch at the shop with one on it. I will take some pics for you. The remote cord is cut on yours, the power cord will be tough to crimp. The control packs are potted and are really not serviceable. The wire next to the positive is wired all the way back to the crimp on lug. I...
According to the TM, Rectifier and hour meter are not required for Army use and should be left disconnected. The Army model is the H83 and the Air Force is the H82. I personally would rather have the H82! At least you know the meter was connected.
I am in Greenville SC and I repair them! I have quite a few 802, 803, 804, 805's in now to be checked out. I have seen several older units that have been thru tier reset more than once. I try to find units newer than 2009 that have not been reset. I go thru units purchased mainly from GA...
I use a set of 12v magnetic tail lights when towing with my pickup. These things will push you in a sudden stop since you will not have trailer brakes! For recovery runs under a 100 miles I use my 5 ton! I have had a mep-007 on a trailer fight my 5 ton due to no brakes. I now put about 2...
I had a guy there trying to get a winch from me last year but we could never find a good way to get it there without an arm and a leg for transport. I was wondering if he ever joined Steel Soldiers. We discussed it.
Some info on the diodes used IN5406. I replaced the diodes in the units I service with IN5408. The peak reverse on the 5406 is 600v and the 5408 is 1000. The normal voltage is 700 vs 420. Everything else is roughly the same. See chart
My toy hauler has 3 air units and a 10K onan onboard. I use a 803 Generator to run it where I cannot get a power hook up since it is not under my bedroom like the onan! I did add more sound absorbing materials that I showed in another thread. I have never tripped the 803! The peak power load...
I use a flex. If I were you I would replace the rubber fuel lines now. I put new hose on everyone I get that are over 2 years old or 2 year from rebuild! Got lucky once and got a 2011 that was rebuilt in 2015. There are many great posts on SS about this. Also run some injector cleaner in it...
I have had pieces of french fries in diesel fuel around here! I have a 55 gallon tank on my pickup that I get diesel in and then filter it before I put it in my truck and gensets. Don't forget to use the right fuel additives! I always use them in my truck and generators...
Fortunately for me in days gone by I wrote battery changing procedures for the govt. You disconnect neg first connect neg last. Very simple! We had a employee loose an eye due to a lead acid battery exploding when he shorted the positive to the vehicle frame with a half inch socket wrench...
When I get in a generator from GL or GovPlanet I put in a gallon of distilled water with the drain valve open before filling and running the engine to max temp around 5 minutes. I drain and do this a minimum of two times. Sometimes you do need a detergent to clean the system. If I get any oil in...
Probably hydraulic oil. If have heard of kerosene, fuel oil, motor oil, etc being run in the coolant systems of cars for years. Some racing engines and tractor pull engines run oil as a coolant. At least that is what I have read. I would flush and flush before putting in any antifreeze. You...
