Looking good! It is about time I paint my truck!

    Winch mounting plates

I wish I had a nicer paint job on the truck but this is what the recessed fairlead looks like now. Very functional and I even covered the dent in the back of the truck. I put 2 pieces of reflective tape behind the lettering and it is hard to capture with flash!

Will welding to the top of a shackle pin damage its temper?

I agree with Scar59! Just drill a small hole about and 1/8 to 1/4 in the middle of the keeper and tack it on, grind it smooth and its a keeper :)

    M998 Front Winch Bumper Options...

The Warn 12k winch has a 9k limiter for this application. It is designed for self recovery only! Just about every 12k and up will pull over 200 amps under load so 12 volts is out of the question for a DC winch on this vehicle. For example 12V DC PERFORMANCE SPECS (first layer of drum)...

    Winch mounting plates

I have an idea for mounting a front winch utilizing more of the existing space on the 939. It is not easy and will be somewhat time consuming. It may still require a very slight extension of around 2 inches to clear the bumper. I hate to cut bumpers! Anyway I would remove the hood support...

    Winch mounting plates

After playing dodge ball with the pentle hitch I decided to make an easier way to get the winch up and in place in the rear of the truck. You can move the winch back against the second cargo bed cross member. I am going to make the spacer 2" longer and add an additional hole so you can drill...

    Cable for crane

Awesome truck Ken. I know you were a everyday driver in your 5 ton. I imagine you get some attention driving this one around!

    Fayetteville Late fees?

The guys there usually call me if I haven't picked up in a week.

    Winch mounting plates

Yes it is an amp meter probe for over current. It only allows you to winch out if you overload to reduce tension on the winch cable. You cannot winch in until you reset the winch with the disconnect switch.

    Winch mounting plates

I have used 2 - 2x4's about 33" long to hold the winch as I jack the winch up one frame at a time. I just put the winch on the mount and keep it parallel to the frame. when you get high enough slide in a 2x4 and lower on it. Then raise the jack and do it again. It helps to have a helper to...

    Winch mounting plates

I mount directly over where you mounted on the very top channel under the bed. The winch turns upside down. The mounting plate goes against the cross member just under the actual bed floor. It is not easy to get it there I know. It is as high as I could put it to keep it safe and snug. I use a...

Are you missing the current overload ring for your winch? Call me tomorrow and we will get you going!

It is very hard to shoot thru rocks and wet sand!

    FMTV Armor plates

Were they using a ballistic alloy on these trucks? What are you doing about cover and head protection? A note about the gravel. I have seen something similar with what appeared to be glass marbles layered in a composite.

    M998 Front Winch Bumper Options...

I have put up to Warn 18k's on a front bumper. The bumper was just a piece of 4x4 tubing with a plate welded on it to mount the winch. Simple. I am making another one that will be awesome. You can mount any 24v winch Warn makes on it and have hood clearance. I borrowed a 998 for a week to...

998 or 1038 in the Greenville SC area?

Does anyone have a 998 or 1038 in the Greenville SC area? I need to make a frame stiffener for one and I would like a real truck to measure! I am making a IBIS type push bumper with winch mount for up to 18k winches and I am worried about the front end frame connectivity and strength!

    Underbody Protection Kit

Send me the dimensions and I will let you know how much I can make you one for. I can make anything flat ,b bent, or rolled up to 1" thick AR. After that, well I am too old to lift it :)

    Winch mounting plates

There is about 1/64" between the fairlead and the fully dropped tailgate! I had a dent in the bottom of the frame that caused me to set the fairlead frame to the top of the cross member inside. Since it works about 1/4" above center I am just centering the cover plate. I will make the cover...
