    How important is this thing?

Well, I looked again and found it this time in the TM under Cab, "cab drain plugs". The parts TM for the M1083, TM-9-2320-366-24P-1, figure 267, #3. Part #12417562, "VALVE,CHECK,CAB VEN". Not really sure what it does, except plugs the access hole. Hope it helps, some. Tom.

Is this what your talking about? If so, yep I have one missing myself on the passengers side. The drivers side is still there. Trying to find it in the TM's, can't find it as of yet.

    What is this...anyone?

I did my first major cleaning of my M1083A1 cab and found a lot of trash and some parts. I found this part behind the drivers seat between the seat and the storage box and could not figure out where it goes or even if it goes to this truck. I looked at the TM's to check and see if I could find...

Finally, my M1083A1 is at it's new home...

Well I started on the engine. Oil and transmission fluids are full, oil dark, coolant a little low. In the coolant tanks glass view port, it has some white partials at the bottom third of the glass. Looked over the fuel tank, no leaks, fuel tank almost full. There is no bad smell from the fuel...

Finally, my M1083A1 is at it's new home...

That O ring was in a dozen or so pieces. I cleaned everything well using a toothbrush, dental pics, and some brake cleaner. Not only did I double checked it but I triple checked it to make sure (I want to keep the hard lessons learned to a minimum now). Unfortunately the repair kit I purchased...

Finally, my M1083A1 is at it's new home...

Well after responding to the you the first time, I now feel foolish for what I am about to say! Thank goodness I was able to get the spare down and out of the way. Once I got the spare tire out of the way I was able to get up and get a closer look at the latch and the area around it. After...

I have looked at them but no one has one in stock at this time...at least I could not locate one. Maybe someone else knows where one could be found? Thanks for the info! Tom.

So you have a copy of it? If so could you send me a copy on a thumb drive or CD? I'll send you a thumb drive/CD or if possible you could use a thumb drive/CD and I will pay you for your parts, time and shipping? I need all the help I can get for my learning curve on MV's. Let me know, many thanks!

Finally, my M1083A1 is at it's new home...

Thanks for the reply! So, I tried to put up the cab with the manual pump. After a few pumps, fluid started squirting out of the cab latching pin area. I was able to find get a rebuilt kit for the cab locking latch. Put in the two front O rings and pin seal in, enough to get the cab latch to...

Finally, my M1083A1 is at it's new home...

I down loaded all of the TM's I could find here on SS, a couple months ago, that dealt with the M1083, so I could go through them before I got the truck. I didn't see one for the A1's, I'll have to look again. Thanks.

Finally, my M1083A1 is at it's new home...

Thanks! I replaced all of the batteries with 6T's. Removed the old batteries and cleaned up all the battery box and all the cables. The cables were in good shape, one thing that has gone good for me so far. The install was a learning experience and took some time to complete, my first vehicle...

Finally, my M1083A1 is at it's new home...

Thanks for the info! I replaced all of the batteries and noticed that box to the rear or right side of the battery box, which has the NATO connection, has a battery shut off switch under the box. I shut if off so I hope this will stop any drain on the batteries. See pictures. I still want to...

Finally, my M1083A1 is at it's new home...

Fuzzy toaster, Thanks! Yeah, the first thing is to get the engine running. The batteries are 8 years old. Tried to charge them but they're not holding a good charge. NAPA has the 20% bucket sale and I was able to get 4 new batteries at a decent price. Today I will take out the old batteries...
