I see the gen 1 light come on when I start her and the rpm hasn't exited the alternator yet. When i raise the engine rpm a little it gors and stays off.
So I know the gen 1 light works. Not sure about gen 2, ill see what will happen once I return it to normal.
This one is mostly for CUCVRus.
The previous owner spliced the wire from the driver side alternator (I assume it's the exciter wire) and ran a bypass to the pass side alternator and cut the black wire , which originally went to that alternator.

There is a wire connecting the left to the right alternator. I believe that on my truck the original cable was broken as the previous owner bypassed it. But checking for continuity in that wire going from left to right would be something i would check.

All these transistors have three pins, the tab is a heatsink. And yes it is an NPN transistor. A TO220 packaging.
I actually used a 2n6388g to replace one on the glow plug card.

Doesn't hurt to clean the card with some 99% isopropyl alcohol. Then clean the pins with a fiberglass pencil. How do the contacts look on the transistors?
