in reference to the battery cables, I had a bulldozer do this to me once. Replaced everything, had the dash apart. turned out the battery cables had blue-green corrosion inside of the insulation, in the middle of the wire, the last place you would look. Insulation was good, and ends were...
Those look like lmtv rims. Just guessing. They aren't hemtt rims. I can't tell from the picture, lmtv rims may not have the same backspacing as hemtt rims. PM member 98G, he helps me out on deciphering rims.
FRONT lug nut specs: 1.5" hex, 7/8" thick, 3/4"-16 threads.
Oreilly's part numbers: left: BWP M-125 brand is brake and wheel parts
right: WA07-5020 brand is world american
You need at least 2 HEMTT rims for the steer axle. They provide more negative backspacing which prevents rubbing of the tire on the steering arm when steering full lock to lock. 5 ton combat rims will work, on the front and the rear, but won't allow you to steer quite as short when used on the...
If you install one of Scar59's spin on conversion filter kits, you might get it done in less than 20 minutes. I use leftover cattle mineral tubs for catching old oil or antifreeze. You also need to allow time/money to grease the truck, check the air filter, transmission oil level, and air up...
I have used this one on my M923. Brand is quickstart, part # LP535, NSN is 2910-00-646-9727. 22 fluid ounces.
Long skinny can mounted with thread end down, has same threaded head as lp lantern bottle.
Had to tighten the bolts around the bellhousing slowly and methodically going around it doing each one a little each time. Be careful, the item they are threaded into is aluminum, and the bolts are steel.
Get 4 bolts about 3" long, cut the heads off of them, then take a zip saw and cut...
I don't wish to turn this into an oil debate either. Allison has a pdf called "mechanic tips" for the mtb 600 series of trans. There is an oil spec chart on page 5 that shows the C4 rating approved fluids. Basically, you choose what weight fluid depending on your use of the vehicle(on road or...
Let us know what you find out simp. I talked to Joe at eastern Surplus a couple weeks ago, he says there is no difference, that the torque converters are all the same between the A1 and A2 trucks. I just installed one of my 3 new ones, and it works perfectly in my A1 truck. All 3 have the...
Update: transmission is installed and went well. Very easy to do on a concrete floor and with the correct jack. Would like to say THANK YOU to bigrig379 for loaning and delivering to me a transmission jack. This is an awesome site and lots of good people on here. Jack is a Pittsburgh from...
Not to change the subject, but I would be interested in your speedometer recalibration device, pics would be awesome and where you purchased it. I have a M923 with 16.00r20's installed, and would like to correct my speedo.
I do not own a military hmmwv, nor have I driven one; but I could imagine that if you are braking hard or suddenly, and combined with limited traction or slick road surface, that the rears would lock/slide first, because when you brake hard weight transfer occurs from rear of the vehicle to the...
I have an 18 volt dewalt, and have been very pleased with it. I use it on the 5 tons, equipment, and my dump trucks. I carry it in the pickup, it is very speedy, and simp is correct in that the dewalt will get the air out quickly after refilling with a full tube. Very happy with it after 2...
Used 2 rachet straps to lower the bad transmission to the ground. Went well and didn't break anything or hurt anyone. Found the one 1/2" bolt that secures the modulator cable to the trans. Now I am on the hunt for a transmission jack.
Thanks for the advice country. so are you saying that the flywheel and ring are physically different to the point of not being able to fit/bolt together an 8.3l torque converter to an nhc250 flex plate ring gear? Is it possible to install an 8.3l setup to a nhc250, and the truck still...
