Thanks for that info. I just ordered a couple off Ebay. :)

    M1008 12 Valve Cummins Swap

What conversion setup is this? I had not heard of this but honestly hadn't even looked. Got a link to the brackets and/or kit?

M1010 fire rig to camper conversion

Are we talking about the same thing? I was referring to the original M1010 heater, not an aftermarket diesel heater. The original one doesn't have an adjustable t-stat. Basically on/off, high/low and fresh air blend door. This is why I was going to remove it and put an aftermarket diesel or...

M1010 fire rig to camper conversion

Problem is, to use it you have to have the vehicle running and there is no thermostat. Not really a good option when you are trying to sleep. I'l have other propane items so adding a heater is no big deal.

M1010 fire rig to camper conversion

Yeah, I am pulling all of that. Our camping is Thanksgiving to Memorial Day so A/C not really needed in the back. Will likely put A/C in the cab (Vintage Air). The heater in this must be ran with the engine running, so not really practical for camping. I'll put in a aftermarket diesel or...

M1010 fire rig to camper conversion

Great looking build. I just bought another M1010 to do my camper build. I had one about 9 years ago and regretted selling it. You have given me some good ideas. Keep them coming. Here's mine, that I bought from SS member named 319.

    1985 m1010 wiper motor

I had this issue and once I removed the noise suppressor that plug inline, the wipers worked as they should. It's all plug and play, so really easy to do.

m1010 12volt conversion prep, updated duvac wiring?

The white wire should trace all the way back to the alternator. The brown wire at the DUVAC is the one that will splice into that white wire. I have a modified wiring diagram from the TSM that shows what we did on my rig. I can email it to you if you PM me your address.

    M1010 Pic Thread

Thought I would post up a couple pics of my old M1010. Wish I still had it...

Possible 1010 project in the making

Also, the rear of the frame was extended an extra foot. The box is 9' long versus a truck 8' bed. I agree, unless you need some reason to use the pass though, just seal it up and use a standard truck cab. The cab seal they used was VERY heavy duty and not sure how easy it would be to source.

    M1010 12 volt conversion finished

No, completely different wiring for the charging system. M1010's use the DUVAC system where 1008/1009's do not.

    wipers... will not return

I had this problem on my recently sold M1010. I found out it was the grey capacitor pack that was bad. If you still have this on the truck, you will notice that the plug on the factory wiring and the plug on the wiper motor will connect directly, without this capacitor pack. This was only...

    New M1010 owner, Central California

Cool rig. Though I sold mine (awaiting shipper to pick up) I was going to build mine as a camper. Here was a drawing I did to get an idea of what I was going to do.

Anyone install Banks Turbo in a M1010?

Well, as it is, it won't matter. I am selling this to another person who should be picking it up early next week. I replaced it already with a '97 Dodge Ram, extended cab, 4x4 long bed with a Cummins diesel. In the long run I will be money ahead and have a vehicle that can keep up with...

    Glow plug life span?

I thought about doing the grinder thing to the glow plugs but my thinking was, since most replacements are the larger terminal, if I ever had to replace one on the road, I won't have my grinder with me. I did use fully insulated female spade connectors so I have no exposed metal. The whole...

    Glow plug life span?

I can answer the the connector question. They are standard .250 (1/4") female spade connector for a 14-16 gauge wire (blue insulation). NAPA or most any auto parts store would have them. Even electrical supply places or places that deal with car audio should have them as well.

    M1008 and H2 wheels

First, do NOT use the stock lug nuts. They are not the right style and can damage the wheels and could not hold a torque setting. What you need is the "bulge" style lug nuts. I got mine from Summit Racing. They were made by Gorilla. Here's a pic of H2 wheels with 35x12.5x17. Front is...

    Glow plug life span?

I was looking at AC60G's and Kennedy's QH and went with the Kennedy's because they had a sale a few weeks back. Seems like they have gotten very good reviews and happy to say I got all my Wellman 070's out without any issues and the new ones in. Took me about an hour and that included...

    Trans leaking?????

Actually 27 year old seals are prone to leaking. If one is leaking, buy a full gasket kit and replace all the external seals at one time. Just recently did this on another T400 I have for another project. Easier to do it once then continue to do them as they leak. Don't forget the...
