Humm... interesting idea. I think the first thing I would need to do is see if things can be converted to work on 12 volts, as I have ditched all the 24 volt systems.
SSSC- sounds like we do have similar ideas. LOL I'll have to see where this project takes me. Really would like to find a second engine I can use to mock everything up outside the vehicle, so I can keep it running. More pressing plans are for some sort of an overdrive setup. Can't decide...
Humm... I did a search in the CUCV forum and didn't find anything but you got me curious to search Google. Sure enough there are supercharged 6.5L diesels out there. Very cool idea but two problems. One, you have to run a serpentine belt system for the ones on the market and two... $$$$!!! I...
I guess this hasn't been done on a 1010. Here's a pic of the alt, it's huge compared to the 08/09 units. It's hard to see in this pic but the drive side has an A/C compressor which I am trying to keep for A/C in the cab (since I won't be using the unit in the box).
I am starting to look at...
I take it you haven't popped the hood on a 1010. They have a completely different alternator system then the 08/09's. Both are large J-180 case styles and are mounted on the pass. side of the engine. I converted over to a 12 volt system with a single J-180 mount alt in the top spot but I...
I know people have put them into M1008 and M1009 's but I have not seen anyone who has done this on a M1010 ambulance. Has anyone done this?
I picked up a complete, close to new Banks kit and know I will need to modify things to make it work but figured if someone else has done it, it might...
I actually bought the O'riellys one but haven't installed it yet. Looks to be the same as the NAPA one.
Even if doing a 12 volt conversion, the advantage of keeping the relay is that it takes the switching load of the starter solenoid off the ignition switch, which is known to be a weak point...
Got the ORD 2.5" shackle reversal brackets installed today. Definitely gave me the clearance for the 35" tires. Very happy with this setup and my H2 wheels and ProComp Xtreme A/T tires.
Too bad you're not closer to me. I have the 4 I pulled off my 1010 I would let you have for a good deal. This way you could shoot yours or mine while you keep the rig on the road.
Well, I basically gutted the rear box on my M1010 to get ready for my camper conversion. I am sure I will get a lot of flack for doing so but I did buy this to build a camper out of, not keep as a stock MV. I guess it's becoming my own DMZ. rofl
Yeah, those green ones look like Mastercraft or Beard seats. Tons of them in the offroad world. Typically not green in color but Mastercraft even has suspension seats (that is what style these are known as) that recline. The Baja RS seat.
Just as an FYI to anyone looking to do a surface mount setup like in the first picture, off the truck they look great but once you mount them, you will see the downfall of this method. The factory dash face is angled downward so with the gauges flush mounted like this, you are not looking...
I don't know about Ford but it looks that if Dodge made a version of a CUCV. It looks like the main box is the same as a M1010 but they have the front part which I assume made it more aerodynamic.
Yeah, I have read many reports about K&N filters and for street driven vehicle, I might buy another one (this is coming from someone who has them on my hot rod trucks and used them for years) but for anything that goes off pavement, never again. They do not filter enough of the fine dust. I have...
Great, you at least found a major problem so hopefully fixing that, all will be good.
As for rebuilding, I don't know but I do remember when I was searching, I could buy just the vacuum can pod part and not the whole assembly. Seemed to cut the price down about $100 over a whole assembly...
Actually I have a question, you changed over to a gear reduction starter. Did they make those in 24 volt version? Are you sure you got the right voltage? I don't recall when I was looking for replacement GR starters online, finding a 24 volt version (not that I needed one as I was going to 12...
