It wasnt those because it looks like those have the slotted pistons in them. I do remember that there were lots that physically fit, but they had different pistons (some slotted, some flat, some with chamfers, generally the differences were pistons and seals, one was an exact match except the...
Yes, I took your earlier advice on what you learned with yours. (as mentioned earlier in this thread, I planned on copying what LowTech & Tuff did HERE).
I decided to make mine rectangular like in the pictures below again because I have little kids so I didnt want any big gaps for them to fall...
It was in G's link. The A3's front WC are NSN 2530-01-441-4866, I dont have part numbers handy. The A3 Wheel cylinders I bought were off ebay after seeing clayjames find them on there. What I did fid out was that not many dealers realize that the A3 trucks have different front wheel cylinders...
Not yet. I'll probably just be installing 1 on the passenger side of the bench for now. The truck tends to put my kids to sleep when we are driving and with just a lap belt, their isnt anything keeping them from falling forward and banging their heads on something.
I have started work on the...
I'm doing this on my front axle. In fact I bought enough 1.5" diameter (A3) WC that I could potentially do all my wheels if I someday wanted..... (assuming my M/C and 2 airpacks had the available volume to do that safely).
I also found a 1.75" diameter bore front wheel cylinder that would fit!
I looked pretty hard into the Hydromax system too. I actually could have done that cheaper than redoing my split circuit system since the only thing I would need to buy was the hydromax booster, everything else I had, or had access to a free one.
Reasons why I stuck with the split circuit...
Right, I'm also pretty certain its Korea that these airpacks are made my reasons are HERE
You could get a NOS unit that would be USA made, you could have a USA made one rebuilt in the USA using asian rebuild kits. I'm 99% sure that there are no currently produced USA made airpacks. I would...
I'm not really sure what i would want other that I'd like it to be metal (preferably aluminum). I havent thought about it enough but a way to protect the cable from the elements would be nice (I know they have a canvas cover but its just not "my style"). If I were to do a drum cover, I'd want it...
Sorry not yet. Just called him again... He is taking care of a family member in poor health and I guess has only been home 1 week in the last few months. He thought a couple weeks until he can get to it.
Anyone else have a 86-89 deuce they are working on/parting out that would be willing...
I really like the larger super singles.... The ride is wayyyy smoother, little faster, and turns are easier and tighter without all the extra tire scrub of the rear duallies. But for a more affordable upgrade I like the muffler and rain cap flapper on the exhaust.
Somewhere on here I have info on that 4 wire lever start switch. Mine had it but was later changed changed to a 2 wire push button per some directive because of problems with the 4 wire unit. 2 of the wires on my original 4 wire switch were to activate a couple warning lights before it started...
I think all of the new mfg long style ones are made in Korea. The ones from Boyce are, although the only giveaway to that is the made in Korea silica gel pack in the shipping box. I don't know when USA production stopped on the longer style, but I know it stopped a few years ago on the new...
Nice work. Now you can use the lower front clearance as an excuse for some larger tires. I'm sure if you find the added boxes hang down too far that you will find a way to rework it. Good job for doing something different!
Thanks for sharing this! I had no idea Thikol made these things.... I've only known Thikol for making rocket boosters from a previous company I was at. I had to wikipedia it to see if it was the same company and then found it even more interesting that John Delorean bought this division...
Gotcha' Thanks! Also I'd be interested in some type of winch cable cover. Like a flip/fold up thing or something that comes off.
Below are some pics of my bumper mods too (nevermind the yellow circle in the first pic, it was just showing someone before the longer u-bolts for the Air-O-Matic)
Hi JohnnAmber, Yes the lock from mcmaster can be ordered 2 ways. The one I got is a Yale brand one from Mcmaster.com part number 8047A47. It isnt shown in their picture but it comes with a round lock that goes on the opposite side of the door as the deadbolt. Here are some more pictures of the...
