My Haldex pump is 24 volt. I used heavy gauge wire to reduce losses. Voltage chosen to utilize all the batteries. Correct, a voltage drop will be noted with overloading. Low voltage heats the wires more and strains these motors.
I don't know about shoes, but I did see brake cans and know that you can get seals from Meritor. No complaints ever heard about CAT dealers working on these engines, except the 3116 requires special tools.
The 3116, 3126 and C7 are similar in design, bar electronics. Any of them are fine. They all share the drawbacks of dry cylinders. This limits max HP and torque and ease of rebuild. Some mechanics call these engines "disposable".
If you want to swap to be the king of the hill, drop a IH DT570...
Yes and no. It depends on 2 things. A strong CCA rating and alternator output. With adequate batteries CCA you can run the vehicle. The alternator would only be taxed to the amperage that the batteries could not support. If the alternator is pushing more than it is rated, then sure, the...
No, problem. I will pull it and develop a parts list. Glad to hear NAPA helped you. My NAPA stores are worthless. Employees won't lift a finger. NAPA used to be really helpful.
Thank you for that very helpful picture. I was looking at the fitting on mine today. Do you recall the size of that brass T? I'm making a parts list for this project : )
First, a very Merry Christmas to everyone. I know MC is not politically correct, that is why I said it!
I have tank designed for a horn and auxillary air for airing up a tire with Will's glad hans air gauge. What is the best place to tap into the air system for this? Obviously, brakes come...
Fuso actually makes a pretty good world wide truck. Since Overlanding really took off about 5 years ago, the 4wd versions are scarce. You can import one, and there are brokers that specialize in getting them. Seemed like too much of a hassle for too little truck. I view the 4 cylinder diesels as...
Looks very nice. I like the design. Maybe add a little more torsional reinforcement to prevent twisting? No criticizing, making a suggestion to make this more indestructible.
Keep it simple or you will spend a fortune.
The FUSO is not a very strong truck. The 4WD are harder to find too.
The reason I shared this video is not for the truck, but for the home-made composite cabin.
I have a Haldex Pump on mine. Just make sure you have adequate battery CCA's. My pump draws a lot of amps. I run the truck when using it. Some day I will do a write up. To lift the cab is around 1200 to 1500 psi.
RV builders take note of this video. Lots of info. to glean. Before you make comments of the way it should be done, watch the professionals who actually do it.
