Anyone want to save a wrecker

When the power and 6ft. ext. is all the way out on the 819, there is almost no noticable deflection. I think some commercial operators have overloaded that boom. That 246 looks like it can be restored if someone wants a project. I wonder what their production numbers were?

Urgent need for an alternator for multifuel /60Amp

For a rebuild my brother got one for his M819 from CME Armature in FL. Pricey (whadya gonna do?) and took a gazillion years of back and forth on the phone and email just to get the order in. If you want a "new" unit over a takeout I would use them otherwise, find someone else that will hassle...

RALLY FOR N.J.???? TRI STATE AREA? UPDATED (8-2-08)

The sooner a date is etched in stone the better. That way its on my (our) calendar(s) and stuff can be arranged around it.

    Which wrecker is this?

"Is an early wrecker any more or less desirable than a later one?" It all depends on what your intentions are. If its mostly for show or personal use the 602 gas or LDS will be sufficient. If you intend to actually use it to tow loads over long distances or steep grades, your patience will be...

RALLY FOR N.J.???? TRI STATE AREA? UPDATED (8-2-08)

Its not that far for me. Its all about scheduling. I would enjoy a three day weekend of wheeling and camping (and peeing off the back of the Deuce bed at night) :P All of our Pine Barrens out by us are restricted to hiking only. Suggestions: Late May, early June Late July, early August

    Beginning with motorvation

Hey Spicer, did you see any of those 3 500hp 8V92s on GL recently? They went from $800-1,600 I think. I always enjoy when one of the local truck cranes roars by with its DD fat lady sings

    Oshkosh Recovery (UPDATE!)

Awesome pics DaveP!! I guess you beat us to it!! :) I just wanted to include a picture I found on a Dutch website: ArmyMotorCars Its the same model truck. The Navy seems to have used some brands of trucks not found in the others services like: Sterling, Oshkosh, Federal, Biederman, etc.

    M44 Series Rocker Panel Replacements

I don't think anyone makes any repro patch panels/sections for Deuces/5ton at this time due to the availibility of parts trucks. I guess your only choices are to swap entire components or learn or pay to have the areas repaired. Maybe we'll bring the welder/generator to RC this year  I...

    Oshkosh Recovery (UPDATE!)

Thanks everyone for the nice complements. It was fun. Rizzo: "nice, more pics" You'd think with a million pics I would've taken a wide shot showing both trucks hooked together. Next time. Yes Will its a C-180. Manufacture date is 1971. I'm sure it replaced the original Hercules Gasser...

    Oshkosh Recovery (UPDATE!)

I already had a leftover plate of 1/2" thk. laying around. Yes it would have been better to use a 1" thk. instead. I took two 1/2" and cut them out and welded the perimeters. The gouges in the middle are slots I torched in one of the plates so that they could be plug welded. Probably not...
