What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Replaced a faulty Blackout front bumper light. Was intermittent and had a short inside I assume. Installed new one and all work great once again. I know they’ll never be really used, just like to have everything on truck working correctly.

    CUCV 1008,1009, 1028 prices.

It had goodies in the back. That equipment will bring some cash.

What did you do to your trailer today.

I could have easily made one. I just wanted an original issue one.

What did you do to your trailer today.

That crank handle is hard to find. Worth the time investment. The tolerances on that handle grip are very tight. Not easy to get penetrating oil in there but doable. Just slow Took a lot of heat and pliers to finally bust it loose. Ive been having fantastic results with Liquid Wrench...

What did you do to your trailer today.

Did some work today on my M101A2 I got from GP auction almost two weeks ago. Took off crank Jack and inspected gears and roll pins, cleaned out old grease (what little was left) and packed in new grease and reinstalled on trailer. It was stuck from extending at first from some light rust and...

M101A2 trailered home from auction. This is why.

Passenger side was worse than drivers. Couldn’t believe how Loose the hub was. Screwed up my arm with the H1 tire falling on it. Trailer project on hold. Pics show the rub marks on the inner fender. So glad those Tires and rims are off!

M101A2 trailered home from auction. This is why.

Great trailers Will get a cover for this one also. Definitely looks weird behind my 1 ton. Swapping the wheels with CUCV wheels will make a big difference. For some reason, the top rib on the side panels were reversed. Once I removed it, you could see it was that way before it was painted tan.

M101A2 trailered home from auction. This is why.

It gets worse. I pulled off the drivers side tire today to install new bearings. One drum retaining screw came out easy. The other one had been completely rounded in the center and impossible to remove. Someone had tried and failed miserably. Some heat, liquid wrench, and impact screwdriver...

M101A2 trailered home from auction. This is why.

Best trailer the military ever fielded, in my opinion. These things are tanks!! This one had new brake handles, new brake cables, and two new front shackles. Also has the heavy spring kit installed, according to Data Plate. The brakes work!!! Master cylinder clean and full and surprisingly the...

M101A2 trailered home from auction. This is why.

Regular axle. It’s very close. Probably an inch or less. They have the brake cables tied inward. Otherwise the cables would rub on the tires. Their coming off and regular CUCV rims and tires going on. Shame too. Tires look new. Love the look of them, but can’t stand a trailer that’s not...

M101A2 trailered home from auction. This is why.

Won a M101A2 last week from GP. Picked it up Wednesday in Texas and trailered it the 3+ hours home. Was even considering just driving down and pulling trailer home. Glad I didn’t Bearings were quite dry. GAA grease on one side, Red grease on the other. You can plainly see the rollers on both...

    GOVPLANET/USMC latest EUC times?

Bought a M116A2/M101A2 Last week that required a EUC. (No clue why since it was a basic trailer with added HUMMWV wheels) EUC was approved same day they received it. I printed mine out and mailed it in since I wasn’t in a hurry. This was my first EUC. Edit: It was mailed on Thursday and they...

M149a1 restoration project for a local fire department

Mine was frozen also. Used heat and a wooden post slipped in just above the wheel to leverage wheel assembly side to side. It finally worked. Thing is heavier than it looks. It cleaned up nice and I used a lot of anti-seize to prevent any future issues. Turns like butter now.

What did you do to your trailer today.

It was either going to work or be taken apart and placed in a vise for an autopsy. The Tan M101A2 trailer I won today at GP auction has two brand new brake levers installed already! Win!

What did you do to your trailer today.

So today I was going to install a new set of brake levers on my tan M101A2 trailer. One lever works fine, but the other one has been frozen solid ever since I picked it up from RRAD. Luckily it was in the right adjustment position. I’ve sprayed stuff from time to time on it, but never really...

M149a1 restoration project for a local fire department

I did one about two years ago. It was a Rural FD equipment turn in and sold at auction. A1 frame with A2 tank. It was rough but complete. Turned out decent Some parts are difficult to find. (tank mounts) Some are impossible to find. Definitely worth it. Keep the pics coming and if you need...
