Why can't you use GL-5 in the trans? That is what we have in our M37. I have never seen a GL-5 not rated MT-1.
As long as it is gear lube your will be just fine.
80/90W works well.
there is NO valve in line with the heater hoses. Only trucks with AC have the valve. If the lines are cold you might be low on coolant, or the heater core plugged. If the lines were hot and still blowing cold the air diverter door might be stuck in the dash.
And big surprise every one! Its a mid 1980's truck that needs work! Who would have thought it.
There will always be something to fix or replace or adjust. Its a old truck. If you wanted a hassle free should have got a new one with a warranty.
If you look at it that way you wont be so bummed...
Then why post here with a question? I gave you the things to look at. I am not a over the "phone" tech.
I have been ASE master for over 10 years. I do things for my self too. Just trying to point you in the correct direction.
And thank you dug you are all ways right on top of things.
Do you have any TM's or even a Chilton repair manual for the civy trucks?
If not pick them up and read up on them. way way too much info to school you over a few posts.
They fell out. How many times in that trucks life has the trans come out? They reuse the bolts and washers. I nut and bolt my deuce a couple times a year and any thing that is loose gets the Locktite treatment.
IF you read the TM's your spoz to drain them every time your done using the truck for the day/mission.
If you don't like your air tanks do what your doing.
