to me, it dosent look like a mk6 from the inside, a std mk 1. but look at the turret. that is a turret from a ferret with the missle mounts on the side. it also has a browning mount in the turret, you can tell by the round hole in the front of the mount. for $1000, GRAB IT! as far as moving it...
Dave, let me know when your gonna be home, i ill come down and get em. open the barn up and see what other money i can spend too. a couple more sleeping mats maybe.
I have seen several different variations on 4 door cabs on deuces, 5 tons, etc. Actually yours is one that inspired me to build this truck i am doing now. The goal is to keep it as military looking as possible. If the military were to build a truck like this, this is what they would build. I am...
I am in kansas city, ks near the ks speedway. After i get it done i will post picutres. you any anyone else is more than welcome to come out and see it and take it for a drive if you would like.
Finally got a bed for the 5 ton. i will chop 20 inches off the rear frame and mount it just about where it is in the pictures. the cab will go to the bed and be a 4 door cab, that will go on later this week or next week. wanted to put the bed all the way at the back of the frame, but it jut...
my bridge truck has a section of frame through the middle that is 12 inches tall, it is riveted to the original 9 inch tall frame, factory.
was told this is because of the extra long wheel base.
Ok, I need someone to clarify the way the front axle engagement is supposed to work in my 1954 5 ton bridge truck. does it only work in 1st and reverse? or should it work in ANY gear? I am not sure it is working properly at all, i may be imagining it, but it seemed to only work in first when i...
Well, after watching the video of the deuce doing donuts in the snow the other day, i just had to do it myself in my bridge truck. I have the 16x20 tires on it singled out so i wasn't sure that it would even spin the tires in the snow. it snowed about 4-6 inches of real powdery snow last night...
4 door 5 ton
here are some pics of the donor cab that i am cutting up to put on to make a 4 door cab on my bridge truck. its kinda a play it by ear thing, so wish me luck.
plan? you have to have a plan to stretch a cab? I figures I would attach a big chain to the rear of the cab and the other end to a tree , slam the transfer case in low and ease out on the clutch and see what happens.
actually i have a donor cab with doors, going to join the two cabs together on...
yeah the wheels are custom wheels, the fronts are dish out and are at the right width in the rear. the fronts are mounted to allow the narrowest possible way, the other way would moput almost the entire whelel outside the fender!
I will have to take the hubs apart, might as well serive the...
the front is now 108 out sodes of the tires, the rear is much about 101 now, it was 115 with the 14.00's on it.
I plan on using it to pull a trailer to ahul my ferret around with. I love driving the ferret around, but the longer trips sure would be nicer with a truck and trailer. plus I can put...
I gotta figure out how to get the spacers out. I assume i need to take the hubs apart? need new studs? anyone know? I will definitely be taking them out of the front, not sure about the rear. have to see how much the tires stick out of the sides with the bed on.
and you were right, i do notice...
the grill is that way (for now) because the radiator is back in there. the Detroit engine is so long that the radiator would not fit under the hood, so it was put outside the factory location. i am going to extend the front end out to make it appear a bit more militaryish and stock ish looking...
truck already has a 6-71 detroit in it and with the 14.00 it was top speed around 70ish or so, with the 16.00 it should have a bit more, as if i want more!
it will also have a/c in the cab, an onboard generator that starts remotely, it will run the a/c. i will keep it a soft top as all military...
Here is the first of MANY mods this bridge truck will go through. It will get the 53's, 4 door cab and a 12 foot bed in the next few weeks. I have the xzl's on now, bed will come next week, and the 4 door cab the next week.
The bridge truck had the 14.00x20 on it, it is now narrow nuff in the...
I believe that the bridge truck has well enough frame space to put the body from an expansible on. Tahts what I WAS going to do with mine, but now its 12 foot bed and 4,,maybe 6 door cab with A/C!
