I removed the whole bogey set-up from under mine then just unbolted the axle, rather than messing with the dogbones. Made it easier to just roll the whole thing out from under the truck and work on tearing it down without being under the truck pounding on things.
For what you say you want to do with it, a M101a2 would be perfect. I use mine for just that, gravel, landscape stone and mulch. If you see the need for hauling 4x8 sheets of plywood or sheet rock more than once or twice the a3 would be better but not really worth the extra money IMHO.
Chapter 5 in FM 5-125 Rigging techniques Discusses the use of gin poles.
Edit: sorry, that doesn't talk about using the a-frame gin pole kit. Still good reading.
It's only 2 tons of fun now. :-P
Thats a good looking truck. I like the modified fender flares on the bed.
If you plan to ford it over the depth of the axles you'll want to relocate the axle vents up higher. The stock ones are known to get gummed up and stuck. They can get stuck either open...
Does anyone know what the amperage is going thru the ground on the Deuce (and the 5ton with 4 batts) when running the starter? I was thinking about getting a disconnect switch from these guys. ( http://www.ucominc.com/literature/ucom_catalog_2009.pdf ) It looks just like the one maccus...
I spent the better of today out at Glens. Excellent day for pulling parts. Not freezing cold, Not burning hot, nice breeze. The only problem is everything is so spread out. I spentmore time walking back and fourth for tools than I did spinning wrenches. I was only able to get a few small items...
rofl Well it is an A3 and goes along with the A3 trucks.
Honestly, The only thing I don't like about it is the plain jane wheels. I like the lights sunk into the bed. If I had access to one I would have used it on the bobbed deuce instead.
Nice find. I always like it when guys add acc.to their trucks and go thru the extra effort to use Mil. style switches rather than the style you get from the auto parts place.
Look at the 3 little squares under your avatar. One says ON/OFF, one is the ying-yang thingy, and one is an exclamation point !. The exclamation point is what you click on to report a post. Say someone starts posting a bunch of links to auction. Thats against the rules,so you can either...
This is just my opinion so take it for whats it's worth. The parking brake is just for that, parking, so in theory you should not have to worry about the surface. Infact the "pits" should give it more grip and holding power.
Are you guys going to actually dole out the dicipline (sp?) on this or continue with the "friendly" reminders instead?
Don't get me wrong, I like this being a friendly site and all but without backing up what you put in the rules, people will continue to just post links without thinking its a...
