BTT. Still looking for an answer to the question in the first post. I have looked and do not see an option for number of posts displayed per page.

Determinining which is in system Dot 3 or Dot5 empty master cylinder

This is the problem. Water sits in bottom of the wheel cylinders and no amount of bleeding will remove it because the bleeder is at the top of the cylinder. My M35A2 required the replacement of all 6 wheel cylinders that were not rebuildable because they were severely corroded on the bottom from...

Determinining which is in system Dot 3 or Dot5 empty master cylinder

if you are going to work on the brakes later just put Dot3 in as it's easier to find. Having mixed Dot3 and Dot5 I found they don't mix. They stay separated but don't interact with each other. I have converted all my Dot5 trucks that needed brake work to Dot3.

Number of Posts Viewed on a Page

Is there any way to increase the number of posts viewed on a page? Less time spent looking for the "next page" button and more time reading would be nice. You could increase the number to 40 I believe with the old website software.

    Battery group number for M35A2

I have two group 31 batteries in my M929 and just installed two H8 AGM batteries in my M915A1. If you can make your own hold down bracket you can use any two batteries with enough cranking amps to start the truck.

    Handling heavy tires

I second the wheel dolly. I used plywood to roll it on. Much easier and faster than pulling the duals and wrestling both wheels and the heavy hub/brake drum assembly.

what cordless tool are you using to get your lug nuts off

I just ordered the Milwaukee 2767-21 from Home Depot. Good price and I'm getting tired of dragging the 100' air hose from my shop to the front of the house where I work on my trucks. Plus easier traveling with our RV. No more getting the generator out to run the compressor etc. Now I may have to...

    4 BBL Carb Conversion

I had a 1979 Dodge Power Wagon with a 360 and 1978 Ramcharger with a 318. I installed a Carter AVS on both because it's a very simple carburetor. I think about 6 moving parts and about 600 CFM. The AFB and Thermoquad were more complex and I didn't like them. I've hade a love hate relationship...

    Simp's M915A1 Build Thread

If you remember, the 24 volt side of the alternator was just to charge the starting series 24 volt batteries. The "Top Charger" that was on my original alternator was made by the company I use to work for. I knew the engineer that designed it and he suggested the transformer alternator. The "Top...

    Simp's M915A1 Build Thread

Its a clone, I noted that in my thread. WAI 7256N, you may also find it listed as WPS (World Power Systems) which is a WAI brand. I did a quick google search and came up with 4 or 5 different listings.

    Intermittent Alt 1 light

Sorry I missed your pm Matt. I had replied to several inquiries and thought I got all of them. I'm not offering the kits at this time. I may in the future and will post another classified ad at that time.

    Simp's M915A1 Build Thread

I just checked and the 30si with transformer rectifier is available. My cost is a little under $300 new so you have the same money in your setup. If you are going to be running a lot of 24 volt equipment you are better off with a 24 volt alternator.

    Simp's M915A1 Build Thread

I had the alternator 24 volt transformer unit fail on my M915A1 as well. I replaced the alternator with a Delco 30si clone. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?168494-Installing-a-Delco-30SI-alternator-in-a-M915A1&highlight=

    M818 as a first truck - opinions

M818 is a good first truck. They are simple mechanically but, 5 ton parts are heavy. I like the power steering and the larger brakes of the M809 series trucks are better than the M35A2 in my opinion even though they are both air over hydraulic. The later M939 series trucks have power steering...

    Towing 5-ton with running engine

Is there a driver in the towed vehicle? If that is the case it should be no problem to keep the towed vehicle in line with the tow vehicle. As long as the tow bar is strong enough to not collapse and the tow vehicle can stop the towed vehicle, there should be no problem. A U.S. military A frame...

    M915A1 Governor Help

I think the red line is 2300 RPM for the BCIII. I run about 60 MPH at 2150. Anything between 56 and 60 MPH feels good as a cruise speed.

Steel Soldiers MV of the month 2019 - May VOTE HERE!

This is what you see when you look up past the throne of the Sistine Chapel. Michelangelo didn't have time to paint in here so they had Ray do it.
