I think the first thing I would do is add more reserve capacity- more tanks. If you add 2 more air tanks under the bed you get 2x the reserve capacity.
Remember most of the time you are not using any air. For times of high demand, having more reserve capacity makes more sense to me. Set up a...

TM 55-2200-001-12 Page E-131
Most interesting is that it shows that the distance beween wheel centers is just 7'1" between each one when transported in this manner. So 4 trailers can go on a trailer just 22 feet long if you don't mind the...
I know I have seen it somewhere. Let me do some digging- I ahve over 9 gigs of TM's and such on my external dirve.
Here is one showing that the rearmost bolts can be removed and the tongue laid flat on the ground when shipped.
I stopped a group of Soldiers from try to tow a half full water buffalo with a Gator last year at NTC. Just because the lunette fits doesn't mean it is a good plan..........
Actually when the M101 series is "folded" for shipment the exact opposite of what we do to tilt them is done. The two tongue mounting bolts under the frame are removed and tounge is pivoted up on the two bolts on the front so it is straight up and down, with the rearmost part of the tongue now...
Ok, here is my .02.
Are they designed to dump? No.
Can they? Yes.
Is it safe? Yes- if you do it smartly.
First, set the trailer up right. Add a flexible section of brake line, move the wiring harness to the body, lube the joint.
Second, don't overload it.
Third, dump until the body...
Yeah, if you do what he did and way over load it then push it so hard you lift the tires up, when you know the frame is already cracked, you will break it.
Ether in controlled, limited amounts is safe in cold conditions.
Ether is bad when overdone and abused.
A brief spritz to give the truck just enough to light off is fine.
A huge spray, or trying to run it on ether long enough to prime it, will kill it.
There is no way to properly test an IP unless it is on the truck or a test stand. Like you described you can test the solenoid, but that is just one part (and an easy one to fix).
Keep in mind around 100,000 miles is where you start seeing failures in these pumps. And if you truck was in...
That is just for Ft. Rucker. The Army still flys them in several other locations, including at the National Training Center at Ft Irwin.
A couple pictures I took there last year:
I just picked up an M101A2.5:p- it is a 101A2 with A3 axle and landing leg, but A2 box and wheels/tires.
Looks kinda badass with the tires hanging out. I may see what a set of dually rims looks like on it....
I realize that.
The point I was making is that the trailers are exactly the same, but the rated weight capacity is not.
Rated weight capacity on the data plate is not a relaible indicator of real world ability. It reflects what the government wanted it to hold, and that may or may not be...
The 101A3 and 116 A3 use the same axles, unless I am missing something.
And remember we are talking axle capacity, not trailer capacity. The axle will be rated higher than that because it also carries the body weight, and the max trailer rating may not be the max for the axle, because any...
I would love to learn what the TRUE capacity of the axles is. Might have to research the manufacturer and see what they say.
2 M101A3 axkles might make a nice start to a homebuilt trailer...
True. We tended to keep using rebuilt 6.2's longer on the Reserve/Guard side in some cases. Some NG mATES shops were rebuilding 6.2's up until a few years ago to save $$$$.
OK, looking at your auction- the first picture clearly shows an 80's GM sticker on the valve cover. That makes me 99% certain that one is a 6.2.
The second one has black paint on the intake manifold. That tells me it is a government rebuild. 99% sure based on that it will also be a 6.2.
The...
