    HMMWV Humvee M1123 Build Thread

I found some pictures on the net of some bumpers that looked pretty good so yesterday I changed some things to fit my needs and built this one. I found another one I like better but I already had this done so I might do something different later in.

    HMMWV Humvee M1123 Build Thread

I built this winch mount from 5/16” steel. It replaces those twisted bars that ties the frame to the crossmember. You have to relocate the solenoid from the winch to get the winch in this high and tight so it’s not shown.

    Cv axles

At those prices would they be Chinese knock offs or domestic? I want to do this once and not mess with it for a long time. I was thinking the OEM ones were like 450 each. I'm not sure which ones I have. It's a 32 spline 2004 M1123 with the large vented brake rotors. Would that be 12k or 10 k?

    HMMWV Humvee M1123 Build Thread

Also, I realized the way it originally sat the rear top fender surface wasn’t parallel with the other straight surface which is the door sill area. I used the rear mounts to straighten that up so that gap between the two looks correct now

    HMMWV Humvee M1123 Build Thread

So for the lift I put spacers in the middle but on the ends I built new body mounts which are much lighter but just as strong and they incorporate the holes for mounting the bumpers. I took off the existing ones and measured them and made my changes but I didn’t build them square in the shop...

Looking for a shop in Seattle/King County

I bought the kit on Ebay and it all came in just as described. If you're lucky you might run across a military person who knows what's up with working on them. I found out a guy I just hired dad was a HMMWV mechanic in the miltary for six years and said he'd help me with whatever I needed.

    Advice Please: Planning 4L80 Conversion

I've got a 4L80E and fuel tank in my M1123 I'll be selling. I'm not ready to take it out yet but if you're interested send me a PM. Might sell the prop shafts and drive shaft too.

    HMMWV Tailgate Armor Panel

If that's as thick as it is I wouldn't waste the money. Armor that's not bulletproof? 1/4" AR500 I would think would be sufficient for civilians

    Wheels and tires, aftermarket

55mm is 2.16". If you add 2.16" to the centerline of a 9" wheel you'll get 3/8" less backspacing than factory. So basically, very close to factory. 7" and 6.66"

    HMMWV Humvee M1123 Build Thread

So I got the seat bases started. I’ll add extra bracing underneath and a sloped piece where all four match that goes over to the door sill. Later on I’ll cut speaker holes in them maybe. The rear seats have an opening on the front. I’ll put a removable door there for storage underneath

    Crossover pipe repair piece? M1097

I’d probably do 125 plus shipping. It’s in very good condition.

    Wheels and tires, aftermarket

Yes, The HMMWV wheels are 16.5x8.25 with a 7" backspacing. The bore diameter and bolt pattern are the same. If you get the wrong backspacing or offset they tend to stick out really far.

    Crossover pipe repair piece? M1097

I have one off of a 6.5 NA M1123. I'm not sure if it will fit but I'll sell it if you want it.

Hmmwv serial # / year of manufacture list

I'm trying to apply for my SF97 so hopefully someone can tell me exactly what year it is. I've searched online everywhere and I haven't found the typical chart that shows what the numbers mean

Hmmwv serial # / year of manufacture list

Can someone help me with my model year. Serial number is 217268. Also it was listed on GP as M1123 but when I try to buy parts on MacMotors it lists the M1123 as having a SN less than 196,XXX.

    Wheel / center hub fitment

I'm curious. The Method wheels I'm looking have a center bore over 130. I see people running them but I thought the HMMWV wheels were hubcentric. Will these be OK? I guess the lugs will center up the wheel.

    Soften M1123 suspension

I read spacers make the ride horrible. I'd like to get softer riding springs and maybe longer shocks if necessary and get 2" higher for 40" tire clearance and still keep the CV angle good. How can I accomplish this?
