MAdams,
It turns out I have the same problem. It was fairly warm so I took your advice and went to change the fluid in my power steering. Using a transfer pump, I pumped the oil out of the reservoir and then I saw that my filter was missing the washer and so the filter was just loose and not...
And just so everybody knows, you can remove the fender mud flaps to work on the engine. Here they are in place but they lift right out. Putting them back is a nightmare for me.
And another reminder, there is a hood holder so it will not slam shut on you. It was windy at my place today so I...
So I took today off and I worked on the 7 Ton. The forecast was a high of 45 degrees it it may have reached that but most of the snow did not melt. So it was nice enough that I got a lot done.
I was working on fixed a big hole in the cargo cover when I realized that it would be great to have it...
I bought another 7 Ton. I know we are not supposed to talk about prices but if you take the starting bid and add 5 * 100 then you would get what I paid. I was buying for parts but this second truck looks like it might be OK to drive around. Of course, you don't know until you get to see it...
So I was wanting to put LED bulbs in the rear tail lights and I wondered if I could just replace the bulbs. So I took apart one tail light and I was surprised to find it was half LED already.
BTW, if you want to take apart the tail light to replace the bulbs, you just loosen the straight head...
So the doors in these trucks are stopped from flying open all the way by a strap at the inside bottom of the door. My strap was broken like this.
The driver door would get caught by the wind, fly open, and hit the mirrors. The old strap was 2 inches wide and black. On Amazon, I found a 2...
I hope that screen shot from simp5782 does not pretend to show all the parts in an Annual Kit. I have the Semi-Annual kits and it has many many parts in it. Maybe a hundred. There are many small parts. The one thing I did not get in the kit was the maintenance CD which I am guessing shows how to...
MrChyes,
Yes, I complained about that "8 days" being on the truck auctions and GP even sent me an email that I had not picked up my truck after a couple of weeks. I replied to the email and then they replied and said never mind because they know we must wait for the EUC. I guess they send out...
M813rc,
"Not trying to be a know-it-all, but offering some constructive advice - the tarp actually goes the other way around on the truck. The triangular flaps should fold from the front around onto the sides, and the side ones around to the back. This will keep the wind from inflating your...
1100 hours is good. I like a truck that has some time on it. If it has 10 hours on it then I am really worried. Why just ten? Some thing must be wrong if there is just 10 hours.
My buddy is active Army and he says they are required to run their trucks every week. They start the truck, do the...
And another thing I did, was repair the cargo cover I got used. The cover looks good on the truck but there were some areas that were thin and also there were some small holes. So I used the spray rubber stuff to fill in the thin areas and I sprayed a bunch on the holes so that water will not...
I installed the seats but the pins used to attached the seats to the bed sides were missing. I used 1/4 inch bolts instead and they work but it would be better to use 5/16 bolts. Of course, use lock nuts so the bolts don't rattle out.
OH! I forgot to mention that if you are missing the bows, you can use 3/4 inch Schedule 40 PVC instead. I was missing one bow and I wanted something there while I round up another one and so I cut a piece of PVC 73 inches long and it fits perfect into the staves corner.
I pulled my seats out of the "trunk" and put them in. It took me 3 hours to get the seats out of the storage because they were really jammed in there. Plus who ever put them in there did not leave the rope in there to pull them out. So I was crawling under the truck trying to free them up...
MAdams,
I tried your test on my truck and after I pushed the switch and let the accelerator go, the RPMs dropped back down to normal. The High RPM switch was on and the light was on. So the High Idle does not work on my truck. I wish it did because it is COLD here.
If you have to prime the engine, I know how to do it. I guess I should find some time to write that up or make a video.
Good looking truck! I am jealous of the ladder you have on the tailgate. My truck came with almost everything EXCEPT the ladder.
It should not have hydraulic fluid. If it...
There are two different types of armor kits for the MTVRs. I have photos of trucks with the 2 types and I some some additional information on it if you want to know. The government does not sell the armor and as you know, the armor is stripped off the trucks before they are sold. I know my truck...
I have the regular bed. There are 4 staves per bed side and there are 2 sides on each side. So that is 8 and there is one more in the corner up by the cab end of the bed. So you could put 9 sets of staves in if you wanted to. I think two of the sets are very close and you don't need to double up...
I found an air leak on my truck. I had started the truck and I was going to clear some of the snow off of it when I heard an air leak. I could hear the leak because snow in the bed was melting and the water was running down onto the dryer. The water ran down to the bottom of the dryer where it...
