7 Ton cargo cover and hardware

Blhar15, you are correct but maybe we should say you need AT LEAST 7 sets. I see that the bed sides have places for 9 sets and the storage rack behind the cab has places for 8 sets.

What are the Tips for buying a MTVR ?

I do not have any experience with driving or owning the 5 ton but I can tell you a few things. The seats are almost the same. There is a driver seat and a bench seat for two passengers. The bench opens and has storage inside it. The drivers seat is an air ride seat which is nice. There is no...

What have you done to your MTVR today?

I would love to know how to fix the fast idle. When I flip my switch, the light comes on for fast idle, but the idle stays the same.

    MTVR CTIS problem

Wow, that is a lot of time spent on the CTIS. But I have heard that the CTIS can be hard to work on. Let me know if there is anything else I can do and best of luck.

7 Ton cargo cover and hardware

I was checking the size of the 5 ton cargo bed and the 7 ton cargo bed and they seemed the same. So I thought, I wonder if the cargo cover, bows, and staves would fit on the MK23? So I purchased everything for a 5 ton and installed on my MTVR. And it all worked.

    MTVR CTIS problem

Here is photos of what I was talking about. The 0-2 tons and the Highway lights are on steady. This is the plug I checked and the sensor.

    MTVR CTIS problem

OK, here is what happened. I went out to the truck, it was freezing, and the truck was off. I also know that there was no air pressure in the tank. I measured infinity ohms which makes sense. I left the sensor unplugged. So then I started the truck and it started building up air pressure. My...

    Priming the C12

I got my truck started and I can drive it again!! So I found a lot of instructions on the internet and even in the MK23 reference manual that is in the upload section. Most of it was wrong. I needed to take bits and pieces from many sources to finally figure out the proper way to prime this...

    MTVR CTIS problem

I have a working CTIS - sort of. My truck has a lot of air leaks and I have not plugged them yet so I have to have the truck running a long time to get enough pressure to get the CTIS functioning. But once it has the pressure, the CTIS works good. I can measure the resistance of that pressure...

J1939 diagnostic code reader. Anyone using it?

I checked eBay and the description of some of them say the software only works on Win XP. Did you get a version that is newer than that?

    Mk23 power steering filter help

Tomorrow it is going to get up to 36 degrees which is not too bad. If you want me to, I could pull out some of the oil - enough to get to the top of the filter, and then send you some additional photos. Let me know. Yes, I think it is time to change the oil but I will wait until summer to do it.

I would be interested in where you got yours and how much.

    Mk23 power steering filter help

Well, even though it is freezing outside, I wanted to help my buddy Mike so I put on three coats, two pairs of gloves and a lot of long underwear. It was easy, just like you said. Two bolts and the cover was ready to come off. Mine was stuck so I had to pry it off. I was already to take photos...

J1939 diagnostic code reader. Anyone using it?

Rolling18 is correct. I had a mobile Cat Mechanic stop by to help me with my truck and one of the things he did was tap into the ECM and read codes, get the engine serial number, etc. He used the Nexiq interface that is in the "Glove Box" in the cab. He had his laptop with the Cat software and...

    Priming the C12

The mobile mechanic stopped by and we could not get the truck going. There was air getting into the line somewhere. It must be the water separator but we could not figure it out. He did tell me a lot of interesting things about the truck. One thing he pointed out to me was the Ether assist to...

    Locking fuel cap

Hi Smike740, First, it locks on tight! I could not move it using both hands and as much power as I could muster. Second, it locks by means of a cam that presses against the neck of the tank. You can see it in the photo above. It is the metal thing at the top of the cap. It is designed to press...

    7 ton batteries

NDT, I thought the same thing although once a battery is down below half the rated voltage, it is usually toast. I did check the water level in each cell and the levels were fine. I then put each one on a BatteryTender for several days. Neither of the batteries went above 5 volts at any time...

    Windshield fluid reservoir repair

Another common issue with these trucks is the reservoir for the windshield washing fluid is cracked and broken. Mine was still on the truck but it was falling apart. I am talking about the plastic reservoir on the passenger side, under the hood, mounted to the firewall. I did not have much...

    7 ton batteries

First, despite the title of this thread, the batteries do not weigh seven tons. ;) I know many of the 7 ton trucks we get from GP are missing the batteries so I thought I would tell you about what I know about the batteries for our trucks. MY truck came with the batteries. When I went to pick...

    Lock for the battery switch

I changed this message to say battery switch instead of battle switch even though in the manual I thought it referred to the switch as battle. And here is a photo: The lock is black and the switch is black so it is hard to see when the lock is turned to the side. Below, I turned the lock so...
