Welcome to Steel Soldiers.
Guys modify these trailers all the time.
Some really ingenious and excellent ideas have produced some amazing trailers for different uses.
They will chime in on your questions soon.
Read and search the old threads and you will find amazing ideas.
The trailer...
I’m just shaking my head at this post.
Towing an 11,000 pound wagon style trailer, without working brakes, with a pickup.
I hope you bought lottery tickets after you parked it, because you are one extremely lucky individual.
Cleaned the inside of my M1008A1.
Vacuumed all the dirt out.
Cleaned windows.
WD40 sprayed and wiped on door panels and dash, etc.
Really keeps dust at bay for a while.
Removed the kick plates and door weatherstrip and cleaned underneath.
Treated interior floor, etc with ACF50 to...
Just remove the old bracket and install new leg and the bracket it comes with.
The surplus NOS legs are available on eBay for good prices.
Fun part will be fixing the bent steel on your trailer.
As mentioned, reflectors are DOT standard civilian ones painted OD green.
I found mine on eBay also.
Multiple threads already exist showing how guys installed a license plate.
A little research goes a long way.
Instead of starting multiple new threads for the same trailer, a single build thread would have been more beneficial.
Clearly you haven’t a clue on just how dangerous and costly a “grass” fire is.
Wildlife and livestock killed/injured and displaced.
Grass destroyed leaving no grazing for animals.
Fencing and utility power poles/lines destroyed
Barns and corrals burned
Equipment destroyed
Houses...
Ether is not to be used on the 6.2L. Diesel.
It will work fine on other Diesel designs, like the M939 series 8.3L.
It can and will cause internal damage as already mentioned.
The Military and General Motors state very explicitly, in literature and decals on engine air cleaner, etc. not to use...
Ether is not fine.
There’s a reason that the Military, GM and the 6.2L design says not to do it.
If you want to use it on your stuff....ok.
But to say it’s fine to use when it’s clearly not and has been proven so isn’t good advice.
My understanding was that once that item/system was surplussed out, that restriction no longer applies.
I know the site rules apply to current and active restricted manuals.
Including old systems no longer in use, but not released for surplus.
Yes it could be glow plugs and it could also be something else or a combination of things.
The CUCV TMs have a troubleshooting guide to help solve issues, including it not starting.
A search of the old threads will help as the issue has been discussed many times.
DO NOT spray ether unless...
The local National Guard Maintenance Facility here only has the bigger LMTV, etc. tires and the HMMWV tires.
They can, if you have a great relationship with them, dispose of a used set to you, but the ones I’ve seen you wouldn’t want.
The Departments around here have a great relationship with...
The worst the corporate guys can do is say no.
Sounds like a VFD pancake dinner to raise $$ for new tires might be in order.
We always attend them here locally whenever possible to help out.
See if your local PD/SO can spare any.
They usually have access to things the fire department does...
Just make sure their E rated.
Like mentioned, tons of opinions about tires.
As far as getting a set donated?
Only you can answer that since you know the local area businesses and their attitudes towards supporting the Fire Dept. with free items.
Some businesses are better than others and...
You can request it through the Freedom Of Information Act.
It will take a VERY long time, if ever, to get it.
I’m still waiting for a publication for the NF2D Light Tower/Genset.
It’s been over a year.
Hopefully someone on SS has a manual or access to one.
Post a picture of the plug needed.
Civillian Aviation uses a lot of that type with completely different part numbers.
If you stop by a aviation avionics shop, they can probably match it up.
Then simply wire it as needed.
I have done this multiple times.
