The engine should freely spin by the fan blade, or with a socket, if the belt isn't properly tightened. Cheap insurance... also pay attention to if the yellow flywheel can be seen rotating at the same time as the engine. It is not unheard of to have bolts shear at this coupling.

I've got an 802 here that is a leafblower of oil out of the oil fill. Im wondering if I am dealing with a bent push rod, bent exhaust valve, demonic possession all on the table at this point.

Its being sold for parts, presumably because the drive plate (which is steel, and can be brought flat) is bent. Price is right.

I've never experienced a bad switch in that location, in these machines. Not to say its not possible, but your time and money is better served by taking the roof off an deoxidizing/cleaning/disassembling the K1 AC Circuit Interrupter. That is where your problem is most likely to lie.
Never hurts to bring all your backup lifting straps, and other accessories to make it easier, but they have a large FEL that can move anything in their yard with ease.
