    The Novice Deuce

On the highway, expect 50 miles an hour average, unless you have the larger (and much heavier) tires. Even bobbers will not get much more than 12 MPG. and theeDIZ is correct in that they require a good maintenance regimen.

What Model Number Antenna Do I Need?

There is a thread here that describes how to modify the antenna for use with a CB rig, probably in the radio forum. About the only thing available to civilians in the 30-88 mhz range is the six meter band (51 mhz), which would be the RT-524/RT-246 in a military radio. They are 'only' $400-500...

What Model Number Antenna Do I Need?

You have an AS-3900 antenna base, suitable for the newer types of radios (SINCGARS) which have only been released in tiny quantities. That antenna will be suitable for 30 to 88 MHZ transmission. The antenna that goes on that base is long (two piece) at about 9 to 10 feet. What radio do you...

Graves Mountain MV Trailrides and Rally, September 1-5, 2016

There is also a Wally World in Ruckersville about 10 miles north of Charlottesville on US-29, left hand side of the road as you are going north and at a fairly large intersection. We will be stopping there to pick up some supplies that don't travel well (from past experience).

Where we will be shooting from is at Google Earth Coordinates 38.508897, -78.347513, and we will be shooting NNW (North, Northwest) or about 22.5 degrees west of north). You can look at it on Google Earth and should be able to figure out the dimensions/distances.

Wood and paper targets are fine. Aerial targets should be ok as long as you keep the shot sizes reasonable (IE, nothing bigger than #6), and everyone else will have to just watch unless they have a shotgun too! Do you have a machine to throw the clays, or will it be by hand? No rifles or...

MEP-802a - need help starting it. Likely fuel or injector?

Group 31 batteries will replace the GI ones it came with. Blems are about $50 each around here. Ask at your Interstate dealer, or other battery wholesalers.

I can think of a few places at GM that you could back the truck straight up to and drive off of it up hill, without the truck ever being in a ditch!

With and without cab heater is the first thing I can think of.

Official 2016 Ga. Military Vehicle Rally info thread. Oct. 19-23, 2016

Fortunately the command area is almost 100 feed away from the actual plug in point, and John will have one of my adapters for B-7 so two regular extension cords can be run from that RV power point. Should not be a problem!

    Questions from a deuce newbie

JT Wood, There are also Canadian made deuces available, they just don't pop up quite as often. In that case, importation would not be required! There should be several threads on moving vehicles between Canada and the US, both ways. Find them, read, and you should be on track to purchase in...

Windows or MAC? On windows, open with 'Notepad' or "Word Viewer", on a MAC, whatever will open a text file.

Rick, I hope we do NOT have to call on your experience, but on the other hand I'm glad to know you are available!

Just so those who want to pick at me can have a couple of weeks to get ready, I'm going to post the Range Rules here, in addition to having printed copies available at the Rally. My background is conducting High Power Rifle Matches, usually on Military Bases, so some of the terminology comes...

At depot, probably yes. In the battalion motor pool, probably not.

    Hercules Engine Date Code?

Engines before the mid 60's were gassers, and the 427 was the first diesel. I would guess that the 465's came about out of the Vietnam experience, and the turbo was the first attempt at cleaning up the exhaust on acceleration. So if it was built as a turbo engine I would suspect that it was...

Anyone know the weight of a fully dressed 8.3L?

8.3's in the can have been estimated at 4100 pounds by GL in the past, which is about a thousand pounds more than the deuce engines in a can. I doubt all the extra weight is in the can and the LDT/LDS engines weigh about 1850. YMMV.

    M35a2 re-Issue (1:35 Scale)

Looks like the AFV Club 35004, of which I have three. Search them out on e-Bay, they can probably be had for less money there.
